Thank you for all postings. Sounds like you guys had a wonderful time. BTW, I leave on the Emerald this Sunday for a 50th birthday celebration cruise. Joanne
Happy 50th birthday!!!!

Zig .... Fantastic Pictures of you and Jim!

Awwww thank you!!! Hugs!!!

Glad that that you no longer have a bug problem! :)

No bugs, but I wonder how are the temps in your cabins.

Does the AC system work well on the Ruby?

Thanks!

And here's hoping that you have a fantastic remainder of your cruise!

Our ac worked great but others on the starboard side were saying their's weren't cold enough or couldn't get their cabin warm enough!

Hm - is Renee actually ONBOARD the Ruby? Or does she coordinate through the main office in California?

Patrick

She is through the office in Ca. but everything she set up for us was all set on the ship with no problems :)

We are sailing next month, and a Princess pre-cruise email came in as if it were from Captain Tony Draper.

Will Tony Yoemans be leaving the Ruby?

He did not mention leaving the Ruby, so I'm not sure if he will be leaving or not sorry :(

Sorry to hear about your voice Janice. I have that same thing happen, too! I'm sure it's not because we love to talk or anything though.....lol! You guys all have safe trips getting back home! Ziggy, your dad looks very dashing in his tux! And, red is a very good color for you!!! Can't wait until April now, love you guys!
Awwwww thanks Glenda! Can't wait to see you in April too!!! Love & Hugs!

I think I speak on behalf of all of us following this thread. Thank you so much for taking time out of your cruise to share your experiences with us. Looks like you had the most fab time. Enjoy your last evening on board and safe travels home. :)
Thank you so much! We are happy it was an enjoyment to everyone and that we could take you all with us even for just a few moments! We hope we helped those who needed answers and shared inside info to make everyones cruise on the Ruby more pleasurable!

Just checking in on everyone. It sounds like you've had a wonderful vacation with some really great excursions. We did the same turtles & reef excursion as you when in Barbados and it was one of our favorites.

I hope everyone has a great final night on the Ruby and a safe trip home tomorrow!

Thanks Sonja! Hugs!

Glad to hear the bugs have been banished.

Janice' date=' my hubby would get sick about the third or fourth day of every cruise until he started avoiding the ship's water. Some sort of respiratory thingy. He would even make his own coffee or tea in the cabin with bottled water. Has made the difference and he didn't get sick at all on our 15 day cruise.

Very sweet photos of you and Jim and your dad.[/quote']Thanks Patty! Hugs!

I agree. You've been so incredibly gracious and generous with your time. I'm glad you've had a great cruise -- hope we get to meet one day!

Janette

Thank you! I too hope we can meet someday!

Deb and Janice, thank you so much for taking us along with you on your cruise. I have completely enjoyed the experience and it made me feel like I was almost onboard with you.

Janice, I always get "the voice" the last few days of a cruise and it usually lasts way too long when I get home. I have heard others say that it's called "the Princess cold" that is caught by many. Hope you're feeling better soon. :p

Thank You Lynda! Glad you enjoyed it! Have a great cruise next month!

Brrrrrrrrrr' date=' we're back home in cold Oregon!! Definitely a big change from the beautiful, hot, sunny weather we experienced for the last 11 nights. [/color']

The cruise was outstanding and I'm going to start my review tomorrow while doing the never ending dirty laundry we brought home with us. Both of us did very well with our packing and hubby only came home with 1 clean shirt and I came home with 3.

Thank you to everyone for all your kind words to Ziggy and I. We enjoyed answering your questions and we hope that the info will help all of you sailing on the Ruby in the future. She truly is a beautiful ship with a 1st class crew and staff.

Once I get my review done, I will post the link to it here for you. :D

Nighty night and sweet dreams,

Janice

Yeah what she said except the brrrrrrrrrrr, it was 80 degrees here today :P

I might have missed it, but were you able to get the dinner menu order on this cruise (looking for Italian and Chef's dinner nights, especially)? I'd love to know when those are, if you get a chance.
Italian Dinner was on the 6th night and Chef's Dinner was on the 3rd night :)

Hehe, why did you think you two were going to "drive" the ship, LOL?
Well because we were the Captains favorites :) (winking at Captain Mc Charming) SC00102.jpg

and we did pretend like we were driving, but we couldn't find the brake peddle!!! LOL

For those of you who will be buying booze to take home with you' date=' buy it in St. Thomas as the prices are much better there than on the ship and they have more variety. We bought ours at A.H. Rise (?) on the main street and they boxed and delivered it to the ship for free.[/color']

An example is their price for Absolut Vodka was 3 liters of any flavors for $27.00 and the ships price was 2 liters for $24.95. Also a liter of Grand Marnier was $27.95 there as compared to $34.95 on the ship. :D

If your wondering how to get your booze home, I use a product called Platypus Containers and they work great. I bought 4 of the 1 liter sizes a few years ago, as that is the size of most bottles I bring back with me.

They won't break, leak, change the flavor of what you put in them, and they weigh 80% less than a bottle does. They are made for backpackers to carry water in but they work great for getting your booze home too. They stand up so they are very easy to fill.

I bought mine at REI for $7.95 but you can buy them through their website or find a dealer near you on it too. And don't bother to buy the push-pull cap as you don't need it. It is also good for bringing your alcohol on the ship too. ;)

I pack mine in my luggage I send through and I put them in a ziploc bag just to be sure. I have used them the last 6 cruises and have never had a problem with them. :D

Here's the link to them:

This question is for Ziggy - how are the handicap cabins? They are Great!

Are the doorways wide enough for scooters? Yes! Is the bathroom arranged to where when you shower the whole room doesn't get wet? Yes! Is there enough room in a balcony handicapp to store a scooter without tripping over it? Yes! Do they have a ramp to and from the balcony? Yes! How high off the floor is the safe? It was between my waist & chest high, see photo! Is there a seat in the shower and is there a handheld shower head? Yes! Is there ample outlets to recharge a scooter battery at night as well as utilizing a CPAP at the same time? There is one outlet with 2 plugs located on the wall by the desk. I would suggest bringing an extension cord. Are all of the public areas accessible to someone who is scooter, power chair, or wheelchair bound? Yes!

Since you did cruise in a handicapp cabin because of Jim's mobility problems, your answers will be greatly appreciated by all of us who are or have partners with handicaps. And I will be happy to post your answers on the handicap boards.

Thank you for all the answers as they could enfluence the cruise a family might take who have a disabled member.

Wow' date=' you could actually shave your legs without having to put your leg on the toilet seat outside the shower curtain!![/color']
hahaha better yet, I just pulled down the seat from the wall and sat and did my legs :P

Thanks Ziggy! Do appreciate it! Looks loads better than the pictures I've seen of HAL's handicapped cabins.
Princess ships have the largest HC cabins of all cruise lines.

Zig and Janice .... Totally LOVE those photos of you girls "driving" the ship! :D
LOL Thanks! Except I took a better picture of Janice than she did of me LOL

hahaha Yeah those were the days!!! I am doing a group cruise on Carnival's newest ship the Panorama (being built in 2019 first cruise is Dec 2019) in April 2020 this time! Hoping Janice can make it, her hubby is early retiring and they will be moving, so they are trying to figure this into the plans! My life has changed so much, my husband passed away unexpectedly Dec 2016, so I have just started cruising again, plus I have 3 grandchildren living close by lol Oh and I still have that yellow checkered shirt LOL Soooo good to see you still around too!
