Saint Tropez/Cannes Connections

We are scheduled to be in Saint Tropez for a full day in early to mid April. We are interested in a scenic route to Cannes. It would appear that there is a ferry to St. Raphael leaving Saint Tropez at 10:30 which takes about an hour, and then we could take the train to Cannes. Our other option would be to rent a car out of St. Tropez. Would the traffic be horrendous at this time of year? Is the train station centrally located in Cannes? What about the ferry ports in St. Tropez and St. Raphael, are they near the port where the cruise ships dock in St. Tropez or near the train station in St. Raphael? Neither one of us speaks French beyond a few courtesy phrases. I have only found tours going to St. Tropez and none leaving, so maybe it is so wonderful that we should just spend the whole day there.

Any information would be helpful and appreciated.

No response in 5 years to other post-please-help! We would like a private tour for 5 of us to see Saint Tropez, Ramatuelle, Gassin, Grimaud, Antibes, Cogolin. Moulims de Paillas-any suggestions PLEASE. We are going to be there July 1, 2015. Thank you!

Interesting that you are not getting any suggestions. Since we simply rent a car and explore on own, we cannot recommend a decent tour provider. But with 5 you would certainly do well to find a decent tour guide for just your group. Thinking out loud we wonder if you would have better results by posting a msg on the St Tropez forum of TripAdvisor. You might also want to read through that TripAdvisor forum for past suggestions.

You do not specify, but I hope you are not planning to do all of that as a day tour! If you do have a few days, rent a minivan and do it on your own. The drive along the Esterel to Cannes is beautiful. Get a good guide book such as a Michelin Green Guide which is specifically geared to driving. It even gives you suggested itineraries and driving times between the towns.

That is really alot to do in one day. St. Tropez is not located that close to Antibes. (It's somewhat in the area--- but with driving time and traffic...) You are really not allowing for driving times as well, stopping, traffic, and seeing whatever it is you'd like to see. If you really must do all of this in 1 day, and get back to the ship, I would look into renting a car and DIY.... Also, why not just pick 3 and spend more time there? You really will not be giving yourselves any time--just a pass through....Hope this helps...

Read the post by llarsen a few posts down titled: "Anyone been to St. Tropez?"

The person who renewed this post - treasure4two - was also the last to post in the "Anyone been to St Tropez" thread.

The answer still the same, including Cannes and Antibes in their proposed itinerary is unrealistic. They will drive around all day and not see much at any place, and probably miss the boat. The rest (Grimaud, Gassin) can be done in a long port stop by renting a car and driving yourself.
