Snorkeling/diving Costa Rica

We're trying to figure out how much really good snorkeling we will find on this trip. Can anyone please comment?

It has been a couple of years since we went, but I'll share my thoughts anyway. Most of our snorkel/scuba experiences had been in the Caribbean. The Pacific was very different. There is no abundance of coral reefs to just walk offshore and snorkel around. The fish are MUCH larger and are sometimes seen in huge schools. We really enjoyed our one tank dive to see some 5' sharks. I recommend researching the dive locations beforehand to see what is of interest to you.
