Shalie Posted November 30, 2009 #1 Share Posted November 30, 2009 Hello, My boyfriend realized tonight that his passport was expired. Our cruise leaves on December 14th. I thought he could take his birth certificate and driver's license, but it appears that option went away on July 1st. Any suggestions on what we can do? Thanks, Shalie

If it starts and ends at the same location within the US, you can use an original copy of the birth certificate. Check with RCCL, and they will let you know. I just got my daughter's passport renewed and it took 4 weeks. I know there is a way to get faster service however it will cost more money. cruiseguy1016 Posted December 1, 2009 #4 Share Posted December 1, 2009 If you are doing a closed loop cruise starting and ending in the US, you do not NEED a passport. You will need your ORIGINAL birth certificate, with the raised seal, and your driver's license.

kuddles14 Posted December 1, 2009 #6 Share Posted December 1, 2009 We live in Delaware and a friend of mine needed her passport very quickly and even with paying extra, she was afraid that she would not get it in time. She was able to go to either Philadelphia or Washington in person to get her passport done that day. You might want to check and see if there is a place (city) where this can be done. I do know that it is costly to do it this way. Good luck.
skiiergirl Posted December 1, 2009 #7 Share Posted December 1, 2009 We both had to get expedited passports about 2 months ago. It cost about $200 pp but we did get them in under 2 weeks.
