Rasa Sayang Posted December 12, 2009 #3 Share Posted December 12, 2009 No railings to stick your feet through when loafing with an ale on your balcony [baja] on the Jewel - just solid steel. :(:p No P&O Logo on the funnel of the Jewel Plus that circus thingo sticking up on the Jewel
qld cruiser Posted December 12, 2009 #4 Share Posted December 12, 2009 Hi Matt, is the bridge on a different deck ??? something seems different in that area. kind regards Lorraine:):)
Rasa Sayang Posted December 12, 2009 #5 Share Posted December 12, 2009 Hi Matt, is the bridge on a different deck ???something seems different in that area. kind regards Lorraine:):) Bridge is on the same deck Lorraine, the difference is the six large windows a short distance behind the bridge. They are only on the "Port" side - not the "Starboard". According to the deck plan I think that could be the Sauna & Spa area

Kiwi_cruiser Posted December 12, 2009 #9 Share Posted December 12, 2009 I know how to attach photos to posts but how do you insert them into your post have you have? To insert the photos into your post like what nzmatt has done, you need to upload them to a photo shearing site, like Cruise Critic own photo gallery: http://pictures.cruisecritic.com/ or sites like: http://tinypic.com/ , http://www.photobucket.com/ etc…. Then posting the image url here in between img tags Hope this helps :)
Molly Doble Posted December 12, 2009 #10 Share Posted December 12, 2009 I'll be interested to see what people think of the Jewel. I like the dome on the Dawn. Tania

mezza Posted December 12, 2009 #13 Share Posted December 12, 2009 Just come back from Circular Quay and I think the PJ looks like an old ship - despite the 'makeover'
LuckiePuris Posted December 12, 2009 #14 Share Posted December 12, 2009 Ooh on the first two pics...at the front of the ship, Dawn has the sun logo, Jewel has P&O. Thanks Matt For The Photos :)

Gold Coast Cruisers Posted December 12, 2009 #16 Share Posted December 12, 2009 If I remember correctly the only difference is that the Gym on the Dawn is on a lower deck and on the Jewel it is in the Dome area. Brisbane was supposed to have the Jewel orginally but after a survey was taken it was apparent that NSWelshmen and women ;) liked the Gym to be a feature and us 'lot' from up here in and near Brisvagas liked to party so preferred the Dome area to be an entertainment/bar area. Must say I'm happy with that decision...:D Jillybean:)
Mothballs Posted December 12, 2009 #17 Share Posted December 12, 2009 I enjoyed sitting in the Dome. The last thing I want to do on a Cruise is spend time at the gym.

cruisin-m Posted December 17, 2009 #22 Share Posted December 17, 2009 I've got no idea why, but when you see it in real life the PJ just looks really aged and dodgy compared to the PD, I was pretty dissapointed. Also, the last thing I want to be doing on a cruise is going to a gym/spa, give us the dome!!! I probably won't be cruising P&O till we get the pearl or dawn back here :)
Rasa Sayang Posted December 17, 2009 #23 Share Posted December 17, 2009 ... when you see it in real life the PJ just looks really aged and dodgy compared to the PD... Sounds yuk!! But there again, it has been used as a "floating Butlins" for some years.;) Probably still got coal in the bathtubs :p:p As I said in an earlier post - Brissie got the better deal. :D:)
Sandielle Posted December 17, 2009 #24 Share Posted December 17, 2009 Ssssshhhh! ;) Sydney will be taking her back if we're not careful.
Single Cruiser Posted December 18, 2009 #25 Share Posted December 18, 2009 Sounds yuk!! But there again, it has been used as a "floating Butlins" for some years.;) Probably still got coal in the bathtubs :p:p As I said in an earlier post - Brissie got the better deal. :D:) And I thought it was supposed to be whinging pommes and not Aussies! She wasn't a floating butlins for years. She was converted to ov2 only in 2007. The external refit seems to have aged her with the dull drab all White livery and re exposing the chimney stack. If you don't want her we will have her back.
