Concierge Service on NCL

Can anyone tell me what exactly NCL offers with their "Concierge Service". Is it equal to RCCL´s Concierge Service which offers a lounge and free drinks between 5 and 9 p.m. or is it just a concierge who may be contacted for any special needs and wishes? Thank´s for your answers.

On NCL pax in suites and villas (not minisuites) have a butler and concierge. The best explanation was given on CC that the butler takes care of your needs in the suite and the concierge outside the suite. Our concierge on the Sun Karin was wonderful. We'd see her at the suite breakfast each morning and askif we needed anything. She would give us priority tender tickets, make appointments for dining, spa, excursions, etc. She would take you into chocolate buffet early. She would drop off things others would have to wait in line for, such as passport and my jacket for Antarctica. She'd be in the theater. There's reserved seating for suites it differers on ships. Also, she did research for us for catholic mass times in port. I don't think there is anything we would have asked her to do for us that she wouldn't have with a smile. We saw her a few times every day. Loved Karin!

Butlers and concierges are not part of the DSC btw.

Like others warned me, I am now addicted to the suite life.

For non-tender ports, where pax are lining up to get off as early as possible to meet private shore excursion guides, can/does the concierge get suite pax off early?

That is up to the discretion of the individual concierge. We've been fortunate to have this perk offered to us on our last couple of cruises.

No free drinks except at the Captain's reception. No special concirege lounge I'm aware of but access to Cagneys for Breakfast and lunch (this is a suite perk but controled by the concierge).

Bruce, the concierge on the Spirit, should be in charge of training all concierge staff as he is THAT good. In contrast, we never even met our concierge on the Jade during a two-week cruise in the Med but our Butler on that cruise was outstanding.

Priority debarkation in any port (tender or not) was something Bruce managed for us on the Spirit. We had him escort us off at 10am on the last day of our recent trip and this alone saved us over an hour in lines just to get to customs.

The Star Bar on the Jewel class ships is used as the Concierge lounge. There are no free drinks, it is just a quiet place to relax.

I don't know what you mean by controlled by the Concierge. Anyone that is in a Penthouse Suite has access to Cagney's for lunch and breakfast. Anyone else (VIP) that are given this privilege are given it by the Hotel Director not the Concierge. So, in reality this is a perk controlled by the Hotel Director.

Is the Latitudes Party, formerly called The Captain's Party. The Consierge is for Platinum members and suites to get what they want. The buffet has the Cappucino, Latte, Espresso machines for all for free. No lounge needed on NCL. RCCL Concierge Lounge is for suites only for years.

Bruce was useless on our cruise. We saw him exactly three times, embarkation, suite cocktail party, and debarkation.

Our other cruises the concierge was daily talking with us and asking if we needed anything. I think Bruce had forgotten there were two suite forward deck 6.

I was on the Spirit last week (room 10502, the "Singapore Suite") and my experience with Bruce was much more positive.

  • I was given no notice of a suite cocktail party and didn't even know about it until after the cruise - I put the blame for that on NCL. No big loss though.
  • I didn't see Bruce during my initial embarkation.
  • On the first day, while in my cabin, Bruce came by and introduced himself. He didn't personally visit my cabin for the remainder of the cruise.
  • I was a regular at Cagney's for breakfast and lunch and saw and talked with Bruce every day. He was always asking what I had been doing and answered any questions I asked of him.
  • There were (paper) announcements delivered to me the majority of nights indicating that Bruce would escort people off the ship early for excursions, or early for the Chocoholic Buffet, or early for the final disembarkation.
  • On the first day, suite occupants were given Bruce's phone number and it was made clear that he could be contacted at any time with a request. I personally saw him religiously holding his phone just in case someone needed to reach him.

I personally don't think he was invisible or trying to avoid anyone. Also, I don't think it's necessary for a concierge to regularly visit people in their cabins. If people had the desire to contact him he was readily available.
