panda24 Posted December 23, 2009 #1 Share Posted December 23, 2009 I'm trying to pick which cruise line to take for an Eastern European cruise. I realize that the majority of passengers will probably be European and they have a different view on smoking. However, my mother is highly susceptible to cigarette smoke. Even the remnants of it left in staterooms. That's why I always take an air-cleaning product with us. Has anyone taken this itinerary with NCL and found that there was/wasn't a major problem? Any information you have would be greatly appreciated because I don't want to take her on a vacation only for her to spend the entire trip sick. jocap Posted December 23, 2009 #2 Share Posted December 23, 2009 The eastern Med cruise we did on Jade this Feb had mainly Northern American pax on board. Altho' it states that you can smoke in your cabin, I didn't hear of any problems. The only inside smoking was in the Casino. Other smoking was outside on deck. The EU has strict rules about indoor smoking, so most European people are aware of this and used to it.- jocap.
DMH15 Posted December 23, 2009 #3 Share Posted December 23, 2009 NCL's smoking policy is pretty liberal. Have you checked Celebrity?
panda24 Posted December 23, 2009 Author #4 Share Posted December 23, 2009 I've been hearing Celebrity mentioned a lot. So I may look into it. Thank you so much.
Giantfan13 Posted December 24, 2009 #5 Share Posted December 24, 2009 we were on the Jewel this past august to the Baltics. I would guess about 1/2 the passengers were not Americans, mostly Brits and such. As was said, since there is no smoking on the ship in any public areas, those who had to smoke went outside to the smoking areas on decks. believe me, there were several nights when it was cold outside, and there were the smokers huddled around the ashtrays, bundled up and trying to keep out of the wind. Nahnny Posted December 24, 2009 #6 Share Posted December 24, 2009 We just got back from the Jade and I didn't really notice the smoke until the last night. But they had closed some of the outside decks because of weather so not sure if that was why.
