Best prices?

Forgive me if this is a 'taboo' question, but we're planning on our first (non-work) cruise, probably with Carnival but perhaps RC. Is there generally a place to get best pricing? (i.e. Travelocity-type sites vs. local travel agent vs. working direct with Carnival)...I have had the Carnival guy call us several times, but I'll probably talk to him on the weekend.

Thanks!

Some cruise lines (RC I think) do not allow TA's to discount their prices. With them, the TA's will often offer an OBC.

Other lines (like Princess) do allow discounting. I am sure someone will tell you which group Carnival falls into.

Carnival and Royal Caribbean have stopped travel agents and websites from giving big discounts. So, look for an agent that gives other perks like paid gratuities or on board credit. Booking directly with the cruise line doesn't provide those perks.
