jwds Posted January 9, 2010 #26 Share Posted January 9, 2010 Delta has gates all over the airport so they may or may not be close. That said, as long as your incoming flight is on time you should make the connection.
Rare cruisemom42 Posted January 9, 2010 #27 Share Posted January 9, 2010 We have the opposite problem' date=' only 50 minutes in Atlanta between planes. If both are Delta, will the arrival and departure be near eachother? They tell us it is a legal connection, but with all the new security, I wonder if we will make it. I did check on line and see that there are a few flights after ours, so I guess they will put us on one of them.[/quote'] Assuming you are not flying internationally, you will have no extra security to go through, as you'll already be in the secured area of the airport. DO check the gate for your next flight immediately upon arrival (Delta has screens throughout all the terminals), as gates often get changed. If you are in a different Concourse (the "A" "B" etc part of the gate number), taking the train is generally the fastest way to get there. Fifty minutes should be enough -- barely -- provided your arriving flight is on time. That is the big determining factor.
number5858 Posted January 9, 2010 #28 Share Posted January 9, 2010 I agree with the recommendation for One Flew South, especially for interesting and good cocktails. Try one of their Mojitos. They also have some interesting appetizers.

Who knows if that plane will arrive on time? I highly doubt it, but you never know. Delta seems to think it's not a problem. We will going to Puerto Rico. Is that considered international from the US?

Rare cruisemom42 Posted January 9, 2010 #31 Share Posted January 9, 2010 If you land in Atlanta from a destination outside the US, you'll have to go through passport control and an additional security screening. I seriously do not think 50 minutes is enough time.
GophersMN Posted January 9, 2010 #32 Share Posted January 9, 2010 Atlanta is a MAJOR crossroads, you'll be sure to see lots of military people travelling.....go ahead, buy one a beer, or just say thank you......
CaroleLee Posted January 13, 2010 #33 Share Posted January 13, 2010 We have a lay over in Atlanta for 3 hours tomorrow, any ideas? I check online for surronding area things to do and came up with zip:p Would welcome any suggestions. Since our next week will be based on eating, I guess we could start to "get in the grove";) Was @ ATL in Sept. Go to your airline club order a sandwich & a drink. Much less stressful than wandering the airport. 3 hrs is really not that much time. Carole
