All inclusive beaches

The pics below were just recently taken at the El Cid. Lots of smiling folks. Seemed nice to us. We have stopped by off cruise ships many times. Always lots of smiling folks. We have also seen fellow cruise mates there. We have talked to lots of them after, and most love it there. We just walk right in. We don't make the time to stay and pay. If we were going to, we would just sit down and order and pay as we went. We have walked into many resorts in Mazatlan, and feel we could have pool sided it at most. Most resorts in Mazatlan seem older and run down a bit. On this recent visit to the El Cid, it looked like it had a nice recent face lift. Seems many cruisers like to arrange in advance. So we suggest the El Cid. On this recent visit, we talked to a couple on sail away that got transportation from the cruise pier, both ways, free. They loved the El Cid. On the other hand, we were there off the Radiance, on an off day. We were the only ship in port. So perhaps they got good treatment, as there were relatively few cruisers in port that day

Just to be clear(er) There was NO timeshare pressure once we were at the resort. It was only the guy at the cruise terminal that did that.

 

If you can go as Bob and Sofi suggest and pay for your drinks and food as you go, meaning you could buy bottled beer and buy bottled water then if you go early enough to secure a good spot either on the beach or by the pool then it would be a decent place to spend the day.

If anyone is interested, this is the response I just got from Dreams. This is current info, received on 12/11. I think from what I'm reading on these boards, the prices can vary quite a bit depending on when/who/how you ask.

We booked an AI for Stone Island in Mazatlan for our upcoming MR trip. $35pp which included transportation to the island (including a 1 hour trip around the island to take in the sights - optional), lunch, open bar and 2 beach activities (banana boat, snorkle, horseback ride, etc). Also offered a complimentary tour of Mazatlan if you got off the ship early enough.

Almost every single resort on the beach in Cabo is a timeshare resort so you can understand why the owners at the resorts frown on "outsiders" being allowed to come in and use the pool chairs that the owners paid for. There are tons of beach bars/restuarants on Medano beach in Caob (the only swimmable beach) that allow you to use their lounge chairs and umbrellas for free as long as you buy food and drinks. Not sure why you need to go to a resort?
