Ok to Carry a Drink From Bar into Dining Room?

did a search didn't see this covered, excuse if old-hat here; just wondering

is it okay to bring cocktails, soft drinks, etc. that were ordered @ a bar (we found a great barman:D) into the dining rooms or is this considered gauche?

the cocktail server we had covering our table (our only carnival sailing on the legend) seemingly had a remark every night:rolleyes:. Some nights we'd order another round, typically not & kiddo had a soda card that wound up getting very slow service from her, assume because an extra 'guaranteed' tip wasn't in the cards. i've moonlighted as a bartender and believe in tipping early & often to insure service; did give her a small cash tip last night in DR

Yes. In fact, I do this quite often. I enjoy a nice cocktail in the atrium and usually take it into dinner with me. A lady always makes a cocktail glass classy. ;)

I do it all the time - I don't think it's unusual to have a drink before dinner. I've also brought a glass of wine from my room, if I happen to be having it before we go to dinner. The cocktail waiter/waitress comes around and asks if I need a refill, and after the first meal, they usually know what I'm drinking and will say "another martini" or "another glass of wine?"

I always give a $1 tip per drink, in addition to the 15% they add in. I don't recall ever getting any attitude for bringing my own, but if I did I'd just ignore it anyway....

I have carried drinks from the bar into the MDR with no problems. There are a limited number of drink servers working the MDR. Maybe a tip up front could help the servers memory to return to your table.

why didn't I think of this? or that perhaps the slow service was just being somewhat short-staffed and not a reproach:o

okay, thanx for all the quick responses, we shall carry (our drinks) on:D

Yes, we carry our pre-dinner cocktail into dinner (along with a bottle of wine sometimes). You can basically carry any drink around anywhere on the ship. The only thing they frown upon is carrying a 'glass' glass from an inside bar to the pool areas, no glass allowed around the pools.

I love your line of thinking, and will carry it with me on my next cruise.

Yes I do I will I also let the Bar server in the Mdr know what im drinking and I usually will have one waiting for me each evening or promptly after I sit down and I do tip extra on the last night in cash

Also I agree with an above poster about tipping early If you find a bartender that you like and you get long pours tip them extra and those pours get longer:D

We have brought our drinks from bars, casino, wherever to the MDR. We paid for them and have never had a problem doing so.

We have also brought a bottle of wine to the dining room and haven't been billed a corkage fee. I don't know if it's because the wine is the same brand as sold on the ship or just because they liked us, lol.

Enjoy!
