Bridgetown to Bathsheba?

Please, anyone have any ideas about getting to Bathsheba from Bridgetown? We will be in port for a day and want the safest, most economical mode of transportation to Bathsheba. I know it is about 10.5 miles but with the terrain I was wondering how long it would take.

Thanks to anyone that could help in any suggestions.

I would say taxi, busses are fine cheap & safe but you only got a day.... ===> Less than a day -hours!
The Bathsheba bus runs (I think) on an hourly schedule but, as suggested

if you only have a few hrs. ashore it might be wise to spring for the taxi,

take in St.Johns Church before hitting Bathsheba

have lunch somewhere like Round House, Atlantis or Bonito

-perhaps in that order of preference

have your driver wait on you

and then make your way back to Bridgetown and the ship

via whatever scenic route he takes you -East Coast Road for one!

yes, you can get to Bathsheba by bus, but it will take most of your day in travelling, see http://www.transportboard.com/sched_results.php

although it won't cost a lot and you will see the inland scenery and the very scenic beach (not suitable for swimming) at Bathsheba, but thats all there is, no shops or village streets to explore, there is a little bar across the road from the beach at the eastern end, where you can get a cutter(sandwich) and a beer for a reasonable price, see the loads of photo's on Google Earth and on the Photo Gallery here.

I would suggest that you book a tour which takes in Bathsheba and the East Coast, if you want to use the buses I would suggest you stay on the West Coast Highway and go to Holetown and Speighstown with a stop at Paynes Bay, search this forum for more info.

After reading, I think we will opt to hang out on a beach closer to port. :)
In which case, Carlisle Bay/Lobster Alive/Boatyard could be for you?

It's just the other side of the town from where your ship docks

and while at the beach somewhere along Carlisle Bay's 2 miles of powdery white sand

you can see your ship from there! ;)

We rented a car. You have to drive on the left side, and roads near the port are very narrow, but once we got out of the town the driving was fairly easy. Don't know how it would compare price-wise to a private tour; it wasn't cheap.
