Samana whale watching

Will be in Samana on 3/28/10 on HAL-Noordam. Would like to do whale watching and HAL offers it($84 pp) but when checking with private tours the whale watching seems to end for them around mid March. Don't really want to spend the money if the whales have already moved on. Anyone know?
