chalky_bertie Posted January 16, 2005 #1 Share Posted January 16, 2005 Please could someone answer the following questions. We are Virgin cruisers and do not know anything about the way cruising operates. We will be boarding Vision of the Seas at Seward. If the boat leaves at 9pm what time should we be at the dock and how long will we have to queue up for to board? Is Icy Strait a port or just cruising? If a port can't find it on the map! Thanks again!!! joe
Yukon Posted January 16, 2005 #2 Share Posted January 16, 2005 Can't answer your boarding question, Joe, but Icy Strait (Hoonah) is a port that you stop at - http://www.explorenorth.com/cruises/alaska_cruise_ports.html for more information, and there's been a huge Icy Strait thread going here at CC for a year or so now. I would start with your TA to get answers to these and other questions that will undoubtedly come up. Your cruise documents will have the boarding time noted. Did you purchase transfers? It sounds like you will be arriving at the ship independently. I believe Icy Strait is near the entrance of Glacier Bay and offers a variety of shore excursions. Have a great cruise. If you have never been to Alaska, it is magnificent!
Budget Queen Posted January 18, 2005 #4 Share Posted January 18, 2005 I would be ready to board your ship no later than 7:30pm. I am never in a rush to Board in Seward and the port can occupy your whole day. Be aware that it is about 3 hours from Anchorage.
