Solstice in labadee

I am currently on the Solstice and just returned from the port. My minutes are low so more when I return. The "private island" looks pristine. No damage evident anywhere. The ship unloaded some relief supplies when we arrived. They are donating all monies from the visit to Haiti relief efforts. if you take time to speak to those "annoying" sales people you see a different picture. We paused to talk to a group of four. They all lost close relative in the disaster. One woman lost 5 close relatives and her son will probably lose both his legs. We gave them a small amount of money and thir reaction was moving. They don't seem to even know that Americans see what's happening there in the news. I was initally opposed to the visit, but I now see that it has lifted the hopes an morale of some of the Haitians.

Glad to hear all is well on Labadee. We were just there last month. It is sad so many lost loved ones and the cruise line is helping out with relief. I'm volunteering this weekend to package up kits to be sent. I understand the port is reopening soon if not arlready.
