Smoking on Norwegian?

Recommended Posts

I was wondering what the smoking policy was on Norwegian cruise ships. I hate the smell of smoke, and fear that since there are no non-smoking designated room areas, that I may have to spend 7-nights smelling smoke from the rooms next to me. Does anyone know if Norwegian allows smoking in cabins or just on balconies? What if the cabin I reserved reeks of smoke? Boo hoo I hope I am not worrying about simple things, but I hate the smell of smoke!

I understand that smokers also deserve their places to smoke, but I was hoping smoking in staterooms & by the pools would not be permitted. Not looking forward to a cabin that smells like smoke from the last guest, nor sitting by the pool while having smokers around me. Darn. :(

Shoulda researched more before booking. Seems Norwegian might be the top choice of smokers. I will just keep fingers crossed that my stateroom doesn't smell like smoke.

Norwegian is very good when it comes to smoke, in my experience.

Yes, they allow smoking in the cabins and balconies, the casino, the cigar bar (on some ships), I think one of the bars - sports, maybe?, one side of the pool, and outside deck(s).

My husband and I are former smokers. He tolerates smoke better than I do. I have never had a problem in our Norwegian cabins. We have, on one cruise, smelled a bit of smoke in a hallway, which most likely came from a cabin where the occupant just entered or exited. Never smelled it again during the rest of the cruise.

The housekeeping department uses a product or machine that does a terrific job of removing smoke odors. But on the off chance that you do smell an odor, all you have to do is talk with your cabin steward and he or she will reuse the product/machine again and possibly take other measures to correct the issue.

We like sailing on NCL because we can use more of the indoor spaces and enjoy more entertainment.

If you don't want to be in the smoky casino but want to play slot machines and video table game (saw this on a post someone provided a picture of), you can find some in the Bliss Ultra Lounge - found on some ships - and/or in a lounge.

We loved the non-smoking area of buffet/bar area on the back of the Pearl...a great place to get a drink and watch sail away from port. (Loved saying good-bye to Key West here)

Wishing you a smooth and fun sailing.

oooh!!!! so you are saying only one side of the pool is smoking? if so, that would be wonderful! now i just hope to grab a seat on the non-smoking side and i will be thrilled!!!!!!

and thank you, Azure, you eased some of my fears with the cabin smelling like smoke. i know smoking rooms in hotels smell so awful, i was just hoping that wouldn't be the case with a small cabin on a cruise ship!!!!!

some of my fears have been eased. thank you so much. i am NEVER rude towards smokers, and i understand that since they are used to the smell, but they have no idea how unpleasant it really is to those of us who do not smoke. i would honestly pay double of what i paid for this cruise if it was a 1005 smoke-free cruise!

looking forward to my 1st cruise and hoping to book many more in the future!!

Three NCL cruises - never found cigarette smoke to be a problem (ok maybe in the casino). Have been on NCL, HAL and Princess and have never found smokey smell in cabins to be a problem. Smokiest cruise I was on was HAL Noordam. Don't think you will have a problem. Enjoy your trip

my mind is resting with ease after each reply!!!!! thanks!!!!
