Phxazzcruisers Posted January 26, 2010 #4 Share Posted January 26, 2010 Yes, but with the surcharge it is expensive. You are better off using ATM's.

Redtravel Posted January 26, 2010 #6 Share Posted January 26, 2010 I just got back from a trip out side the USA. Be aware that many credit card companies are now changing a fee to convert money from one currency to another. Also, on top of that many companies are now charging an additional 3% when you use your credit card out side the USA regardless of whether the posting is in dollars or foreign currency. So that means , using a credit card outside the country can really be expensive. I did call all of my credt card companies before I traveled...and of course, I was really surprised about the new fees...There are still a few credit cards that haven't started the 3% outside USA fee. Check with your credit card companies before you travel. Also, let them know that you will be outside the country. It helps them to avoid fraud alerts which will freeze your account. I had the horrible experience even though I called my company prior to traveling, and I still found my account was frozen because a merchant had tried to charge a purchase a few times before it went through. The merchant told me what had happened. There was no fraud intended. When I tried to use the card again that day, it was frozen. I called the credit card company and explained what had happened. It still took almost 2 hours before the card was unfrozen. Not the best experience..a lot of unneeded stress...also a lot of wasted time. My advise is always carry more than one credit card, alert the bank where you will be, and hope that you don't have my experience.
vincent15 Posted January 27, 2010 Author #7 Share Posted January 27, 2010 We have quite a lot of non-refundable OBC, so taking it as cash from the casino makes sense.
