klmorg Posted January 26, 2010 #1 Share Posted January 26, 2010 We'll arrive in Miami around 1pm, staying downtown at Marriott Biscayne Bay. Looking for some ideas of what to do the rest of that day/evening. We've done the Bayside thing. We've also stayed at a decent hotel on Miami Beach. We'd like to go somewhere near or on the beach, not necessarily to swim, but just to soak in the scenery and eat & drink. What about South Beach, and if so, where to start? Oh, and not interested in musuems and indoor stuff like that. We won't have a car, so we'll be taking taxis or metro or something. Thanks for any suggestions! Head to News Cafe on Ocean Drive for a late lunch and mojitos and the best people watching on South Beach. Around five, head to the rooftop of the hotel Gansavoort. The best view of Miami, Miami Beach, and the ocean anywhere. Stunning and outdoor rooftop bathrooms are the coolest.

Lots of outdoor cafes. In the evening though i would head to Lincoln Mall. It is an outdoor street area. Gets hoping around 8pm. Tons of outdoor places to eat. Tons of shopping. BY FAR--the best place to people watch!!!! All within walking distance once you get to South Beach.
trish1c Posted January 26, 2010 #4 Share Posted January 26, 2010 W/o a car I'm not sure but we enjoyed the Miami Zoo. I saw a water park place off 95 by the airport, that might be fun.

We stayed in South Beach last year and had a ball. We'll be heading there next month before our cruise. The News Cafe has a web cam running; kinda fun. sj cruiser Posted February 21, 2010 #7 Share Posted February 21, 2010 We fly into MIA at 7:30 am on a Sunday (3/21/10--I hear it's also Spring Break) and won't be able to board until 1 pm. Any suggestions for what to do? We're thinking of renting a car at MIA for the morning then taking advantage of their drop-off at POM after we're done. Just need to figure out which agencies offer the free shuttles--anyone know? Anyone been to Versailles Restaurant? Seems to be one of the few places open on a Sunday morning. Also looking for a place to get some wine on a Sunday morning.
