jlovely Posted January 28, 2010 #1 Share Posted January 28, 2010 Has anyone done the Jungle, River, Rover, Cave excursion through RCI or other cruise line? What were your thoughts? We were debating doing this one or cave tubing with Major Tom. Thank you!
Raceroc Posted January 28, 2010 #2 Share Posted January 28, 2010 We did the land rover/cave/river thing with Carnival. It was great... But, if you have never done the cave tubing, I would recommend doing that first. We did it with Coral Breeze.
klo28910 Posted February 6, 2010 #3 Share Posted February 6, 2010 I would like to hear more about your experience with Carnival's landrover tour. We are also torn between the landrover/cave excursion and cave tubing. The cave tubing gets amazing reviews but we are bringing our children and don't want to have any issues. We thought it might be better to go with a Carnival excursion in this port. I didn't know if it was something that they would like...they are 9 and 11. PiratePixy Posted June 13, 2010 #4 Share Posted June 13, 2010 If anyone could post any more information on their experience on Carnival's Belize Land Rover & Cave Expedition, it would be much appreciated. Unfortunately, I don't read anywhere on Carnival's website that there is a juant on the river included. However, most of the reviews I've read, mention they took a speed boat river track. nolejagbuc Posted June 15, 2010 #5 Share Posted June 15, 2010 My husband and son did the Land Rover and Cave tour last week on the Carnival Legend. They had a blast! They boarded a speedboat and were taken to an area where they loaded into the Land Rovers. They eventually parked and walked over a long suspension bridge and did the caves. They were so thankful for the bug spray that I packed because the mosquitos were horrible! They saw bats and spiders in the caves and had a great time. They did not get to swim at the end because of crocodiles in the water:eek: They said that this was their favorite excursion so far. If you have any specific questions, I can ask them for you. It is a physical activity but my inlaws (59 and 60) went on the tour and raved about it. I would have loved to have gone but I stayed behind with the 2 younger kids. officerswife Posted June 17, 2010 #6 Share Posted June 17, 2010 We were thinking about doing this excursion. Question regarding the suspension bridge. Do you know how many feet above ground it is. A few in our group are afraid of heights. Ohh, the caves - do you have to go through them or is there away around them? We also have a few that are not cracked up about going through the caves. Hard to please all 10 in our group.
nolejagbuc Posted June 18, 2010 #7 Share Posted June 18, 2010 My mother in law is terrified of heights and somehow my 9 year old convinced her to cross it.:D My husband said that is up about 40 feet or so. He also said that you go in and come out of the caves at the same spot. There were quite a few that just waited by the land rovers and did not go through the caves. There were bats and assasin spiders (supposedly they only get you while you are sleeping:cool:). All 4 of them (my DH, DS, and my 60 year old inlaws) loved it. The bugs were so bad that they were "smoking" them out while walking. Bring some really good bug spray and you will not have a problem. i think my son was the only one that ended up getting bit and it was on his elbow. Have fun! rjhollan Posted September 29, 2010 #13 Share Posted September 29, 2010 We're going to skip the land rover / ATV stuff and just do the Cave Tubing. We get enough of that at home already (and probably more adventurous than what we'd get in on a tour!) :D
