jakenashleysmom Posted February 3, 2010 #1 Share Posted February 3, 2010 I'm not really sure on the rules of a poker run, but it seems pretty cut and dry. Each person gets a total of 5 cards at various locations (cabins if you're doing a cabin crawl on a ship) and uses these cards to make their best poker hand. My question is, what if say a husband and wife have each donated to the pot and have their own hand of cards, what is to stop them from "combining" hands to win and split the pot? Is this part of the rules, or do you just trust that nobody would do that? If the pot was like $40 bucks of so, I wouldn't even have thought of it! But if there is a couple hunny in there......tempting! Thoughts?

jakenashleysmom Posted February 3, 2010 Author #3 Share Posted February 3, 2010 I answered my own question....did a google search. You actually print out a "score card" for each participant, you don't actually walk around with your "hand" of cards.
reallyitsmema Posted February 3, 2010 #4 Share Posted February 3, 2010 Most poker runs I have seen talked about here, you pull the card and initial the back. It is supposed to be fun, the pot is not that big. No, I have never even thought someone would consider cheating.
Rare NorbertsNiece Posted February 3, 2010 #5 Share Posted February 3, 2010 I've never heard of this! Sounds like fun. Mental note to self : discuss on roll call.
morebeaches Posted February 3, 2010 #6 Share Posted February 3, 2010 It's even more fun in conjunction with a pub crawl

It's even more fun in conjunction with a pub crawl That is true. ;) 1 dealer, 5 different decks of cards,(a brand new one used at each bar), 5 different bars. :D $10.00 each to the pot. We walked around with the cards in our hands. The dealer and the player had to put their initials on the card as we took it from the deck. That way no cheating. ;) Edit: The dealer was not allowed to play for the pot. The real way to play is each person is supposed to have a drink at each bar before going on to the next.
