Gift shopping-any suggestions?

My sister was on a Hawaii cruise right before Christmas this past year & did some very interestnig shopping for the family. I realize that I will be on our Alaska cruisetour just before her birthday & thought it might be fun to shop for her in Alaska. This is my first trip to Alaska, so I'm asking those with more experience-what have you found that makes a great gift, or is something very unique?

I came back with dolls. from Creek Street they will ship. . also at the Riverbaot they shipped fro me.. i got all kinds of Cmas gifts there.

 

 

if you are using princess their hotel l GS in Denali was great. also shipped.

 

you can always find the normall stuff so have fun shopping.. also you can send salmon from juneau.

We brought back lots of Ulu's for gifts - they come in all price ranges.

Ulus, glacier soap & lotion, & salmon treats for the dogs. Granddaughter loved the necklace with the gold flakes from panning.

Do they allow ulu's back on the ship?

Try some Alaskan socks, nice for cold days

We bought ulus & got them on the ship without any problem. Just be sure to pack them in your checked luggage, if you're flying home. We also found some really neat cribbage boards.

Last fall I visited two very good N/W Indian gift shops in Ketchikan that may interest you. Crazy Wolf Studio on Mission St. and Haida House on Water St.

Probably a dumb question, but what's a ulus? (Ulu?)

No question stupid. It's a type of knife. Check www.ulu.com I wasn't familar with it before I started my trip research last year. ;)

i really like the nesting dolls. i have serveral of them. they can be very expensive or at a cost within a budget price. large, medium sized or very small in size also can be found. i always bring a few home.
