maxteriffic Posted February 15, 2010 #1 Share Posted February 15, 2010 We will be in Barbados on 2/24 off the Carnival Victory. I see there is a rubgy match that day. Does anyone how close the pitch is to the port? My daughters are rugby players and would love to catch a match if possible. Thanks.

I am not speaking with any authourity as Rugby is not a sport that I have my finger on the pulse of... I however believe that most matches of this type are played on the Garrison Savannah which is just outside the city..probably a 15 minute drive by taxi from the port area. Aplmac Posted February 15, 2010 #3 Share Posted February 15, 2010 I'm pretty sure Keith is correct as to location but... I think the guys usually wait until the day cools off a bit before doing their thing. In the days when we used to throw boomerangs on the savannah I remember the rubgy guys over on the other side -and the time of day was always something like 5 - 6 p.m. The bad news as far as you're concerned.. is that Victory usually pulls away from the dock at 5 p.m. sharp!! I really can't see them playing Rugby during the heat of the day It's just too much! .
maxteriffic Posted February 15, 2010 Author #4 Share Posted February 15, 2010 Thanks so much for the quick reply. You guys are awesome! I was afraid that the match would be too late for us to see. Thanks again for all your info, both of you are really helpful. Leah:D
cruiserbryce Posted February 16, 2010 #5 Share Posted February 16, 2010 I am not 100% sure but there is a LARGE stadium about a 5 minute drive from the ship...we saw it on the way to our excursion in Dec...maybe thats it

It is the home of the Cricket Gods and they would not allowed the field to be damaged by playing rugby. If you are not familiar with the game of cricket you can google it and read all about it. Its the King of all sports in Barbados and the West Indies in general.

Kensington Oval, hard by the Port. Neither Stadium is used for Rugby, since it's just a bunch of guys who have some fun now and again with 100 onlookers,if that. No need for a stadium...not with a 'crowd' like that! :D .
