Malta Malta Malta what to do?

Recommended Posts

We are going to be docked in Valletta on a Sunday. Do you know if there will be taxis around and/or if there is a special Sun. bus schedule? We would like to get to Mdina and then back to Valletta. Also, how would we get a bus schedule online? We have six hours to work with.

Bus schedules =

www.atp.com.mt - the official one

www.maltabybus.com - much more user friendly

There will be taxi's. There is a kiosk from where you buy vouchers to give to the taxi driver so that you know you're not being cheated.

It will take about 40/45 min Valletta to Rabat (for Mdina)

Anyone have an estimate of what it would cost to take a taxi from Valletta's port to the Blue Grotto? We will be there in the heat, and with kids, so we think it'd be cooler (and better for everyone's dispositions!) to take a taxi.

Also, does anyone know if it'd be difficult to find a taxi afterward to take us back to Valletta?

It shouldn't be too difficult to get a taxi from the Blue Grotto, its a small town with shops and such and very touristy. If there isn't one waiting on the high street I'm sure someone could call one for you.

We walked from the bus stop (At the top of the cliff) down to the blue grotto area, and then walked back up the cliff and along the road to the ruins which are about a mile farther.

Have fun, Malta was a very lovely place, we spent a week there last year.

Does anyone know the top things to do in Malta? we will have an infant and just wanted to know if we should walk around valetta or if we should grab a cab/bus and which to take to get to Valetta/co cathedral. Or should we just take a cab/bus which one to Mdina? Thanks. Just wanted something fun and easy.Is it easy to just walk around the town from the port?

You dock at the Valletta Waterfront. From there to Valletta proper is a walk that involves a steep hill.

There are buses just outside the Cruise Terminal. You can also take a taxi (you buy vouchers from a stand) to get you to Valletta.

Valletta itself is very easy to walk about. Go to the Barakka Gardens which overlook the Harbour and your ship. You can then walk down to the ship.

Depending on the time at your disposal you can get a bus to Mdina.

However , if your cruise is in Summer remember it will be hot so I don't know how practical it will be with an infant.
