QV Question

Help needed please.

I'm just about to book a cruise on Victoria and before I do I want to be sure that I'm booking the correct cabin for myself.

Q1...On the deck plan cabin 6049 appears that it has a bigger balcony than others of the same grade on that deck...has anyone had one of these cabins that could confirm?

Q2...I'm booking 2 cabins next door to each other,is it possible to open up the balcony divider and have one big balcony?

Q3...The cruise is a fly-cruise,fly out sail back...as the flight is included do I have a choice when I fly out...example,I want to fly out early to have a few day

in the city before the departure?

Many thanks for any answers...

On the deck plans 6090 and 6095 appear to have larger balconies than 6049. In case you're interested, 4054 and 4053 are slightly larger still, as many of the balconies on deck 4 are a little longer than those on the other decks.

Please check this with a decent travel agent or Cunard...

I hope you enjoy your cruise - she's a lovely ship.

Q3 - yes you can choose when you fly - we are doing exactly that before and after our cruise in November. Flying in to NY the day before sailing and having a couple of nights there when we return before flying home.

Have a great time on your trip.

I've seen these partitions folded back to make cleaning the balconies easier. I'm not sure if you can open them on a DIY basis, but I'm pretty sure your cabin steward will assist in opening it as long as there aren't any safety issues involved.

Well not a plan really, just trying to sound organised....the trip isn't until November....My problem is I'm booking a cabin for a friend who has never sailed before hence the balcony divider question....but that's neither here nor there, anyway if I get it wrong and he hates every second of it, maybe a good thing to keep it locked!

Here's another question....I phoned two cruise specialists today, both very well known,to my suprise they were both more expensive than Cunards web site?

Do you think the price will come down (specialists) or shall I go ahead and take advantage of Cunards sale price....decisions decisions...before I forget, yes both Jack's,Susie and Lucy..

You should be able to get a better price from a TA than Cunard's website, although I've noticed that the well-known one beginning with V is usually dearer.

I was given a higher price by a TA once and when I told them I could get it cheaper on Cunard's website, they managed to come up with a lower figure.

The TCook website is good for getting live prices for every catagory and they give you nine available cabin numbers for each catagory. (I've never used them though so this is not a recommendation).

We enjoyed 5105 which we needed due to the handicapped status. I was concerned about the full exposure but that was never a problem. We regularly enjoyed our coffee on the balcony in bathrobes and did not feel that others were looking at us.

In fact, we were on our balcony a good deal and rarely saw anyone else using theirs.

Tons of room --loved it. Enjoy!

Hi Bunkrest

Just because I'm nosey (!) I wondered which cruise in November it is that you are going on? We're booked onto the QV in November for the Med Cruise, leaving Rome on 24th November and sailing back to Southampton.

If you'd like any information re: booking, although we're first time cruisers ourselves so probably little help, you can private me and I'll send you my email address.

Alternatively just fire away on here, as you've seen already I've found all posters on the site to be extremely friendly and helpful.

Happy Cruising!

Gareth

Hi Gareth,just finished the booking!

Boy was it hard work...didn't book via Cunards web site in the end...got it a little bit cheaper elsewere:)

Flying out on the 22 Nov spending two nights in Rome and then making our way to the ship.

Will keep watching the rollcall...,was on QM2 last Oct, the roll call provided lots of helpful info, I'm sure I'll be the one asking all the obvious questions, at least we've got nine months so start thinking of some!
