Rum Point Beach

Hi Everyone,

Wondered if anyone has ever taken a cab to Rum Point Beach from the pier? If so, can you give me an idea of how far it is, and how much it costs to get there? Also, any problems getting taxis to take you back to the pier? Thanks!:)

A taxi to Rum Point from the pier would be approximately $80 US each way for a party of 2-3 people. More people would likely cost more. (We've only been a party of more than three once, and I vaguely remember the shock of it being well over $100, maybe over $120 even, but I don't remember the exact amount.)

It's a 45 minute drive, and no taxis would be anywhere in the vicinity for the return trip. You would definitely need to prearrange the return...and keep your fingers crossed that the driver remembers and comes back for you. :D (Yes, we had a driver forget once and show up really late...now we rent a car. The panic only needs to be experienced once before you learn that lesson.)

The other ways to get to Rum Point are either to rent a car and drive there yourself, or to take an excursion (through the ship or privately booked) that includes a stop there. I'd strongly recommend either of those options over the taxi idea.

If Carnival still offers it and you want to see Rum Point Beach, we did the Sting ray City and Rum Point Beach Excursion and it was Fantastic! We did that excursion 2 years ago and it was about $45 pp. We were only on Rum Point for an hour or so but it was one of the most spectacular beaches that we've seen. Rum Point isn't a large beach, but it was very scenic and a good place to sit back, grab a quick bite to eat and enjoy the view without the worry of taxi's. ( and 1 hour at Sting ray city ) Loved it!!

We did the same excursion. It was great! The beach was gorgeous BUT it rained while we were there so we spent most of our time in the small bar/snack area. The conch fritters were yummy!

We did this one in February 2010 and it was approx $60 per person. Was also glad it included lunch. Had a fantastic time with the stingrays, swimming around and also hanging around at Rum Point Beach...beautiful waters and fantastic sunshiny weather. :)
