Whittier excursion?

We will be arriving in Whittier at 12:20pm via Alaska Railroad. Our ship leaves at 9:00pm. I've notices several 4 hours glacier trips out of Whittier. They all seem to leave at 1:00. Has anyone done one of these and would you recommend? What do we do with our luggage? There doesn't seem to be time to wait in line and board then get back off the ship in time. Can anyone offer any advice? thanks.

These boat tours are just excellent for up close extended glacier viewing- way superior to your cruise ship. You can probably just drop your bags off at the ship- properly tagged. :) Contact the venders and inquire what their recommendation is- some have luggage storage available.
