A senior or a resident of a qualifying state can indeed book this BL Guarantee for $949. An ES booking cannot price match with a Guarantee price. The only way this price can help an ES booking is as Ken describes above.

Nope - I've had no contact from Carnival at all since last night. And I really don't expect to either. I stated my case as pain as I could, sent supporting docuementation (Screen Shot) and the supervisor said that he elevated as high as it could possible go. I really don't know what other options I have other than to continue to wait and check. Oh well, it's not the end of the world. We are still going on a great cruise in 8 days.

Now - if you hit the details screen - it brings you back out where the lowest balcony price listed is $1099.00. It didn't matter where I live, if I was a past guess, or anything else. They could not give me a valid combination that would give me a price of $949.00 - in their system. I guess that's what I'm getting at. This price here does not match anything that they have on their side.

 

I doubt Carnival will make this right - I will certainly post here if they do, but I'm not holding my breath.

When I select MI in the search critera from the results page - it does update the prices - and it's still $949.00. But, at the details screen it goes to $1099.00. Isn't the whole point of having prices on that screen to give you an accurate idea of what the cruise should cost?

 

This is what I don't get. You can have IDENTICAL search criteria on two different screens that contain prices - and they don't match? That to me is unacceptable.

That page you linked (pic posted right above this post) is more like a summary page and you need to add additional info/fare codes to get to your actual price.

Wow, what a night. I've been on the phone with Carnival for alomst 2 hours. What a dissapointment

 

We are currently booked on the Carnival Freedom leaving next Saturday 2/27. Right now, we are in an inside cabin but I was looking to move to a balcony. Needless to say I've been watching the prices very carefully.

 

For the last week or so, it's been $1,099.00 for a balcony for a past guest. I checked agian tonight, and it came up with no rooms available. I kind of doubted that so I put in the same info in the new search option on the top left. You know the one, with the destination, dates, and the option to pick senior over 55 or past guest. I hit search, and there are rates on that page - $949 for a balcony. So, I decide to take it and call Carnival. And that is when the fun started. The first girl I talk to says that the rate is still $1099.00. I explained to her exactly how I got to the page, and she is still not sure. So, she gets me over to an internet specialist. I end up emailing them THEIR web page with THEIR price. After waiting about 20 minutes on the phone, she comes back and says it's some kind of glitch.

 

OK - so how is this my problem? It's a rate on thier own site, not Travelocity or something. Shouldn't they honor it? Well, after talking to a supervisor for almost 45 minutes - no. He can't explain why I see that rate, but it doesn't match what they see in their system. No budging at all. Unbelievable. We leave in 9 days, and I'm going to try not to let this ruin this vacation.

That is the exact question I asked them last night. What combination would give that rate? They could not answer me. It's not a senior rate, an ES rate or a State rate according to them. They don't even know where it's pulling from. I will say that when I put my state in there, it does stay at $949.00. But, Carnival disagrees.

Any you people ever take a business law class? An offer does not construe a contract. Carnival is not bound to mistaken offers on their web site.

 

As a rebuttal to Carnival not honoring price drops, I've received 3 price drops already for a suite booked via the Early Saver program, not ONE problem with Carnival at all, very quick and no questions asked. I am very happy with the customer service I've received from Carnival.

Somewhere in Carnival's vast website - some combinatin of age, location and maybe your favorite football team :) will give you a rate of $949 for a balcony. You can see this rate on one page, but not others. It's not a senior rate either. That is $999.00 And, Carnival is unable to tell me what that combination is. And Elvis has left the building......

The OP does not qualify for the $949 rate.

 

The rate shows up every which way I search. I called my PVP & I can book a BL guarantee at that price right this minute. I qualify. If I had an ES booking she said I could upgrade to BL guarantee right this minute.

Good thing I'm a good customer of hers or she would be ticked off at my bothering her!

YES!!! I see the path you took to get the $949!! But only on an apparently erroneous Summary Page, not on the actual RATES Page for your cruise

 

That's only on the summary page, yes it is a glitch in the web page that you won't be able to hold Carnival to as this is not the actual FARES Page, which IS correct and DOES display the $949 rate as 55+ (BL Guarantee) when you properly search with 55+ selected.

 

I don't see Carnival budging on this as everything IS correctly displayed on the RATES page that would be required. So, your options are:

 

(1) Regardless of that issue, they don't ES Price Match (as such) against Guarantee Bookings, so you can't get a Price Adjustment.

 

(2) ONLY if you're 55+, if BL Guarantee dropped to your ES Inside fare you could give-up your Inside and get the BL Guarantee with TBA cabin.

 

(3) ONLY if you're 55+, you could pay the difference and "switch" to a BL Guarantee with a TBA Cabin assignment.

 

The $949 rate is unquestionably a 55+ BL Guarantee.

 

You didn't mention if you have a 55+ in the cabin? Otherwise, IMO there's no hope here.
