Ken076 Posted February 18, 2010 #51 Share Posted February 18, 2010 The only $949 rate I get is a Senior (55+) BL guarantee rate of $949; I can't get a Michigan Residency rate to show. If you're 55+ (?), booked ES, in an Inside Cabin, you should be able to buy up to the BL Guarantee, give up your assigned Inside, and get a BL TBA cabin at $949. ken

An ES booking cannot price match with a Guarantee price. The only way this price can help an ES booking is as Ken describes above.
applegam Posted February 18, 2010 Author #54 Share Posted February 18, 2010 See post #33 in this thread. OP states they did book ES. Steve Yes, I did book under the ES - but for an inside room. I have no idea what that means when I try to upgrade. But, all I was trying to do is take the sites price as I was seeing it. And yes - that same price is there today. And no - they will not honor it.

I hope so When you click on detail, go to the side and reenter the resident state, then the details show it. Nope - I've had no contact from Carnival at all since last night. And I really don't expect to either. I stated my case as pain as I could, sent supporting docuementation (Screen Shot) and the supervisor said that he elevated as high as it could possible go. I really don't know what other options I have other than to continue to wait and check. Oh well, it's not the end of the world. We are still going on a great cruise in 8 days. Ken076 Posted February 18, 2010 #57 Share Posted February 18, 2010 applegam - I've lost Track: You're booked Early Saver, Inside Cabin? You are Michigan Resident? Someone in cabin is 55+ ? Specifically, What is the Booking type (FunSelect, FunSaver, 55+, Resident, Past Guest...) shown on the Fares page that you're seeing??? when you click on the Balcony Fare displayed on the Fare page, What is the 3-Letter fare code shown in the right border of the Balcony page? The only $949 rate I can find is a Senior (55+) BL Guarantee (TBA cabin) rate?? Is this what you're seeing??? If you can insert answers alongside above questions, we can probably help! short of a friendly, overreaching PVP, The ES program does not price-match against Guarantees - if this $949 rate is below your ES Inside rate you CAN'T get OBC for the difference - If you have a 55+ in the cabin you CAN give up your Assigned Inside and move to Balcony Guarantee with a TBA-assigned Balcony. ??? If the above is not the issue? Why can't you persuade a supervisor to go onto carnival.com and view what you're viewing. Or Post the Screenshot(s) for us? Or----as Iowagirl succinctly puts it "If you are not a senior & do not live in a qualifying state, your lowest rate is $1099.00." ken

I only mentioned that because we offered to take that rate. No go on that one either. It didn't matter where I live, if I was a past guess, or anything else. They could not give me a valid combination that would give me a price of $949.00 - in their system. I guess that's what I'm getting at. This price here does not match anything that they have on their side. applegam Posted February 18, 2010 Author #60 Share Posted February 18, 2010 If you are not a senior & do not live in a qualifying state, your lowest rate is $1099.00. When I select MI in the search critera from the results page - it does update the prices - and it's still $949.00. But, at the details screen it goes to $1099.00. Isn't the whole point of having prices on that screen to give you an accurate idea of what the cruise should cost? This is what I don't get. You can have IDENTICAL search criteria on two different screens that contain prices - and they don't match? That to me is unacceptable.

TrikeRider Posted February 18, 2010 #63 Share Posted February 18, 2010 I think that page which shows the price of $949 is showing the lowest possible price if fare codes were applicable, IE: senior or state discounts. That page you linked (pic posted right above this post) is more like a summary page and you need to add additional info/fare codes to get to your actual price. dan40 Posted February 18, 2010 #65 Share Posted February 18, 2010 Wow, what a night. I've been on the phone with Carnival for alomst 2 hours. What a dissapointment We are currently booked on the Carnival Freedom leaving next Saturday 2/27. Right now, we are in an inside cabin but I was looking to move to a balcony. Needless to say I've been watching the prices very carefully. For the last week or so, it's been $1,099.00 for a balcony for a past guest. I checked agian tonight, and it came up with no rooms available. I kind of doubted that so I put in the same info in the new search option on the top left. You know the one, with the destination, dates, and the option to pick senior over 55 or past guest. I hit search, and there are rates on that page - $949 for a balcony. So, I decide to take it and call Carnival. And that is when the fun started. The first girl I talk to says that the rate is still $1099.00. I explained to her exactly how I got to the page, and she is still not sure. So, she gets me over to an internet specialist. I end up emailing them THEIR web page with THEIR price. After waiting about 20 minutes on the phone, she comes back and says it's some kind of glitch. OK - so how is this my problem? It's a rate on thier own site, not Travelocity or something. Shouldn't they honor it? Well, after talking to a supervisor for almost 45 minutes - no. He can't explain why I see that rate, but it doesn't match what they see in their system. No budging at all. Unbelievable. We leave in 9 days, and I'm going to try not to let this ruin this vacation. Did you book ES? Does the rate you see qualify under all the ES restricvtions? If you did not book ES then you are past the final payment date and not eligible for price adjustments.

That is the exact question I asked them last night. What combination would give that rate? They could not answer me. It's not a senior rate, an ES rate or a State rate according to them. They don't even know where it's pulling from. I will say that when I put my state in there, it does stay at $949.00. But, Carnival disagrees. JoeMissile Posted February 18, 2010 #70 Share Posted February 18, 2010 Any you people ever take a business law class? An offer does not construe a contract. Carnival is not bound to mistaken offers on their web site. As a rebuttal to Carnival not honoring price drops, I've received 3 price drops already for a suite booked via the Early Saver program, not ONE problem with Carnival at all, very quick and no questions asked. I am very happy with the customer service I've received from Carnival. Good luck with your cruise!

I'm not looking for a handout - I'm willing to pay for the upgrade. Just to beat this dead horse one more time......:D Somewhere in Carnival's vast website - some combinatin of age, location and maybe your favorite football team :) will give you a rate of $949 for a balcony. Ken076 Posted February 18, 2010 #75 Share Posted February 18, 2010 YES!!! I see the path you took to get the $949!! But only on an apparently erroneous Summary Page, not on the actual RATES Page for your cruise That's only on the summary page, yes it is a glitch in the web page that you won't be able to hold Carnival to as this is not the actual FARES Page, which IS correct and DOES display the $949 rate as 55+ (BL Guarantee) when you properly search with 55+ selected. I don't see Carnival budging on this as everything IS correctly displayed on the RATES page that would be required. So, your options are: (1) Regardless of that issue, they don't ES Price Match (as such) against Guarantee Bookings, so you can't get a Price Adjustment. (2) ONLY if you're 55+, if BL Guarantee dropped to your ES Inside fare you could give-up your Inside and get the BL Guarantee with TBA cabin. (3) ONLY if you're 55+, you could pay the difference and "switch" to a BL Guarantee with a TBA Cabin assignment. The $949 rate is unquestionably a 55+ BL Guarantee. You didn't mention if you have a 55+ in the cabin? Otherwise, IMO there's no hope here. ken
