brockmom Posted February 24, 2010 #1 Share Posted February 24, 2010 Noordam- VF- to VB- across from the elevator. I truly am not going to worry.....that is why we thought we would try a guarantee this time. But do we need earplugs across from an elevator??? And what is the difference other than the steel railing between the two rooms. ??? Like I said- I have a balcony and that is all that was important to me....so I will enjoy. Please let me know if I should be really excited...with this upgrade.....much thanks Brockmom
garydm Posted February 24, 2010 #2 Share Posted February 24, 2010 I am a noise nut and have had cabins both next to and across the hall from the elevators on HAL and have never heard them once. We did have one trip when the same group seemed to hang out outside our cabin enroute to their cabin each night and may have been elevator related but who knows. HAL does a very good job with sound. When we had a room across from elevators, when we turned off the TV and went to bed we could hear occasional muffled bells ... and occasional loud people getting off ... but nothing seriously annoying. Maybe if you have very good hearing you should bring the earplugs just-in-case, though! The VF and VB rooms are the same inside. The VB balcony is 6 ft deep, while the VFs on deck 5 are 4.5 ft deep, and those on deck 4 are 7.5 ft deep but with the steel-wall railing. Unless you're on the Eurodam, where I think the deck 5 VFs have a deeper balcony than the Vistas do.

CruisinManiac Posted February 24, 2010 #5 Share Posted February 24, 2010 Take a white noise machine. That's what we sleep with a rarely hear a thing. ;) The VF and VB rooms are the same inside.
