Princess 10 Day - can you get off a night early?

The 10 day princess cruise returns to Papeete the night before disembarkation at 8:00PM and there is a flight home that night at 11:30PM. Can we get off the ship that night and go home or do we have to wait until disembarkation day?

Has anyone ever gotten off the ship the night before on this cruise? Did you have enough time to get to the airport? We've done this cruise before and if I remember correctly the ship docked a couple of hours early that night.

The ship docks in Papeete between 7-8 that evening, no guarantees exactly what time they will be tied up to the pier and you will be allowed off. This past fall, it was after 8:00 before we were allowed to leave the ship. No where near enough time to make it off the ship with your luggage, find a taxi, and make your way to the airport in time for your 11:30 flight. I wouldn't even consider it.

Good news! Seats opened up for our actual departure return date (we are using miles) so we don't have to leave early. And we're book in Business Class all the way home (PPT>LAX then LAX>MIA).

Thanks for the info!

Definitely great news, now you won't be trying to jump over board with your luggage to get to the airport on time. lol

When did the seats open up? I thought we had to book exactly 330 days out or we would be out of luck.

There are times, they will open unsold business or first class seats to book with air miles closer to the flight times if they haven't sold. It all depends on what is available. Some flights this happens, other flights it doesn't.

Our cruise is in Oct. 2010. Our miles are with American Airlines - they have a partnership with Air Tahiti Nui so we can use our miles for the entire trip. Per the American Agent there were still plenty of coach seats available - it was only the business class sets (on the Air Tahiti leg) that we had a problem with. But, they became available the next day (someone had held them and not actually booked) so we were all set!

This past October we disembarked the ship about 3 am--the morning or night before--

The purser was to have had a cab for us--but didn't happen--we didn't leave our luggage out the night before and bounced it down the stairs to the outside--did get a cab--just plain luck--you can walk to the main street to the right and flag down a cab--but no reason to wait for anothre day for us since we leave there in the morning rather than the evening--Air France rather than ATN..It worked for us--and we'll do it again in March '11.

One of the best decisions we ever made was going business on ATN. More room, seats recline to almost flat, and great food/service. Enjoy it and the extra plush yellow pillows too.

:) We love Tahiti!
