Evening Transportation from Papeete to Moorea

We are arriving in Papeete at 6:30PM and want to get over to Moorea the same evening if possible. I've checked the ferry schedules, they all stop around 6PM. From what I could see on their website, Air Moorea also stops flying around 6PM. (I've emailed my travel agent to confirm)

 

Does anyone know if it's possible to get from Papeete to Moorea later in the evening?

I think you may have to spend one night somewhere in Papeete and either take the ferry or a flight the next morning. Transportation to Moorea pretty much shuts down around 6 each evening. Good luck on this one though.

We are in the same situation and we are staying in Tahiti for the first night. By the time we get to the hotel, have dinner, etc. it will probably be 9pm, if not later. Staying in Tahiti seems reasonable before our 5 nights in Moorea as the Moorea hotel (OWB) is 2.5 times the rate of staying the first night in Tahiti. An arrival close to midnight in Moorea does not seem like a great idea. In any case, no real choice.

Staying in Papeete for the first night is inevitable, unless you arrive very late and spend the night in the airport like we did the first time we flew in (ugh). Not recommended. It's just part of the logistics of the islands.

Thanks for the info. We're now looking for a decent hotel to stay the night in Papeete upon our arrival. We'll head over to Moorea first thing the next morning.
