NCL Spirit or SUN?

Recommended Posts

I enjoyed both of these ships. Its my opinion YOU make or break your cruise, not a ship or a cruise line. If you go on your cruise to have FUN, you will. On the other hand if you go on your cruise to complain about everything, you will.

You've got comments from people who have never been on the Spirit (?). How do they compare?

I've been on the Sun, Sky, Dawn twice, Star twice and will be on the Spirit for the second time Mar 28. I was hesitant about booking the Spirit last July to Bermuda as I heard it was "old", but really didn't find this to be the case at all.

I agree with Don's comments about you making the cruise. Our priority is departure location, ports and dates, then maybe ship. I think they're all nice with some having little pros and cons regarding design. We happen to really like the deck design and open deck areas on the Spirit are really nice. Don't like the specialty restaurant layouts as much as other, but the food was good. You may not even go to these, but we eat there every night.

Have fun! :D

I agree you make the cruise not the ship......we will have a wonderful time which ever trip I picked and really do appreciate the input you all gave.....The Sun worked a little better for us because the Spirit was a Sunday to Sunday(Sun Satto Sat) and that was a bit of a problem.....so booked the Sun Room 1003......got a very good deal booking through the casino. Thanks again to all who posted. :)

jetskier;

Go with the Spirit. She is a much prettier ship inside plus the buffet area are easier to assess.

No cruises currently scheduled

Just have not found any deals lately. Plus it is soon getting to be my jetski repair season...........so no cruises until around Sept or later.

I love the pool area of the Spirit; you would think you were at a Roman bath. It is just beautiful.

There are things about the Sun that makes me scratch my head and think, "What were they thinking when they designed this ship?" i.e. the buffet area, the lack of room in the back of the theatre to walk behind the last row of seats. You have to go in the front or out of the theatre and around to the other door to get to the other side, and the area around a dance floor that funnels all traffic around a huge bar with stools and then tables by the window. Both lanes of traffic must pass each other to get through that narrow area!?! One disappointment we had with Sun was there were no deck chairs on the Promenade Deck. We love to be on the side of the ship where it is quiet and relax. What no deck chairs!!!???!! What are they thinking.....

With all that said, any ship that takes me safely across the water to a new destination is better than a day at home in front of the TV!
