mercede70 Posted March 4, 2010 #1 Share Posted March 4, 2010 Sanctuary: Looking at the fact that this ship has 2 adult pools, should I still try to get booked into the sanctuary for Sea days? Can you only book for Sea days and if so, will I be able to do that upon arriving on board? Dinner: When/where are the menu's for the DR located? Can you get these in advance, so if a particular evenings meal isn't a favorite, we can make dinner reservations at one of the other restaurants? How do you go about reserving a table for anytime dining, and can you reserve a table for 2 or does it HAVE to be community dining? For snorkel trip, St. Maarten, St. Thomas or Grand Turk? THANKS! 1 HappyCruiser Posted March 4, 2010 #2 Share Posted March 4, 2010 Sanctuary: Looking at the fact that this ship has 2 adult pools, should I still try to get booked into the sanctuary for Sea days? Can you only book for Sea days and if so, will I be able to do that upon arriving on board? You can book a day at a time although more expensive than buying a whole package. Dinner: When/where are the menu's for the DR located? Can you get these in advance, so if a particular evenings meal isn't a favorite, we can make dinner reservations at one of the other restaurants? Outside the DR door and also on a table located in the Horizon buffet and any of the bars. I'm not sure when they actually place them out for checking. How do you go about reserving a table for anytime dining, and can you reserve a table for 2 or does it HAVE to be community dining? Most ships allow people to book a table for 2 for the whole cruise otherwise you have to call each morning for reservations or stand at the DR door in line. For snorkel trip, St. Maarten, St. Thomas or Grand Turk? THANKS! Probably St. Thomas or St. Martin.

For the snorkeling, from what i have experienced it is pretty good on both St Martin (Fr side) and St Thomas, but Princess Cays water is much clearer and has great snorkeling, and from what I have read, Grand Turk has some of best snorkeling in the Caribbean, according to some posters on ports of call boards, ranks up with best in world. roysue Posted March 5, 2010 #4 Share Posted March 5, 2010 I've snorkeled in all the places you mention. It is a bit difficult because on any given you day you may have very clear, still water, or choppy and cloudy water. But taking those variables into consideration, I would recommend Grand Turk. It has a lovely reef and the guides there are friendly and knowledgable. We saw rays, turtles and baracuda, along with a nice selection of fish. Princess Cays also has a lovely reef with pretty decent snorkeling, probably as good as some of the places you mention. It is also beach-entry so that makes it easy and convenient. You don't need a guide and you wouldn't be on any schedule. It doesn't require any special transportation or guide. Those things can make it a lovely snorkeling experience. Which ever you choose, you can't go too far wrong - I've never had a bad day snorkeling! Enjoy!
cruiserone Posted March 5, 2010 #5 Share Posted March 5, 2010 :Just off the Emerald. We choose anytime dining and ended up with a great waiter and asst waiter (Sandra and Joel) and Stefan in Davinci dining room. We ate at 8 every night at the same table. Loved every minute. the food was the best we have had in years. Emerald should be very proud of both their staff and the food on board. Snorkeling is great in any of those ports. Turks was very choppy so it was not as clear as it should have been. Princess Cays was a cloudy day and the water was rough. St Maarten we did the beach and the water was glorious! Love to snorkel in St Thomas in Trunk Bay (actually St John). Take the catamaran ride in St Thomas and go to Honeymoon beach for snorkeling it is terrific! Went to Sanctuary on two sea days and it was so windy that you could not even talk there. We sat at the aft pool on both sea days protected from the wind and it was great. Great ship:D We had a wonderful time. Happy Sailing, I am jealous:eek:

Rare geoherb Posted March 5, 2010 #8 Share Posted March 5, 2010 If you let them know, there is a special vegetarian menu you can order from the night before. There are many more selections on it. You can even request vegan, if that's your preference.
bishop35 Posted March 5, 2010 #9 Share Posted March 5, 2010 Princess marks all of the vegetarian items with a V to the left of the item on the menu.
