clc41297 Posted January 23, 2005 #1 Share Posted January 23, 2005 I was considering on renting a car in Skagway. But I'm confused. Some posts say that you cannot leave US, some say you can. I want to see Emerald Lake, drive to the Yukon(Carcross, Lake Bennett) and see the sights along the way at my leisure. Will I be able to do all this by renting a car or should I just stick with the White Pass Railway excursion? If so, I will be going on Princess and they offer an excursion that has motorcoach to Carcross and WP Railway back to Skagway. Or is the WP Railway without the motorcoach just as good? Thanks for any input.
Host Caroline Posted January 23, 2005 #2 Share Posted January 23, 2005 Yes, you can go into the Yukon from Skagway if you are a US Citizen.. apparently Canadians cannot rent in Skagway and then go into Canada. There are several agencies in Skagway.. check out http://www.skagway.org. We reserved through Avis on the Avis.com website for June. Go Steelers!!!.. grew up in Bellevue. Nancynurse Posted January 23, 2005 #3 Share Posted January 23, 2005 My family and I will be renting a car in Skagway. The only reason you can't is if you are Canadian. Americans are fine. Nancy
