Considering 3 day Bahamas from Miami

... as a surprise getaway from Houston. I see that the Norwegian Sky does not depart until 5 pm and am thinking of either an early morning flight from Houston to save on hotel$ or perhaps finding a reasonable hotel for the 3 of us for the night before. Whaddya think?

It kind of depends on when you are going. If there is any chance that weather might delay the flight then coming the night before would be prudent. If there is little chance of that then you should be okay flying in the same day. Personally I'd go the day before and say something like, "let's go spend a few days in Miami". The next day I'd spring the cruise on them.

Normally, I would go the day before. But you're going between major airports on a southern route. I wouldn't be worrying too much if I were going early on the same day.

I have done it both ways- for me, coming from Oregon, its a LONG flight and so the extra day is nice to unwind.
