Dunner Posted March 12, 2010 #1 Share Posted March 12, 2010 We usually travel to Mexico on March Break and I always buy tiny ( aprox. one inch long) painted turtles with bobbing heads for the kids in my class. Does anyone remember seeing these for sale at any of the islands? St. Thomas, St. Kitt's, Barbados, St. Martin, San Juan. We are going to St. Lucia and Dominica ,but not sure if we will have time to shop. If so, is there an island that usually sells things at a better price? I remember seeing turtles (and other animals) with bobbing headsin the flea market over at Marigot -on the French side of St.Martin. Maybe not this particular stall but very similar. ................................................ You'll find the chicken-toy being offered by Dominica vendors at some sites you visit. ---See attachments below--- I got my two(I'm just a big kid, sorry) up at the Morne Bruce lookout over Roseau, the capital -and right at the base of the pier where local vendors also hang out to catch cruisers seeking local souvenirs. . Dunner Posted March 12, 2010 Author #3 Share Posted March 12, 2010 Thanks for the info. St. Martin's is our last port, so I know if I don't see any before then I know I can get them there. Hopefully they sell them in St. Thomas which is our first stop and I can get one job off my list.
Host Jacquelyn Posted March 16, 2010 #4 Share Posted March 16, 2010 I saw them in Bridgetown a couple of weeks ago. It was in a main duty free department store, but I cannot recall the name. They were about US$4 or US$5 each.
ready2gosailing Posted March 17, 2010 #5 Share Posted March 17, 2010 But can you bring them back to the US? I thought I read something about no living things, etc.
