Anyone tell me what are the best hotels and parking is close to the galveston, tx. cruise terminal? We will be cruising Aug. 30, 2010. Any info would greatly appreciated.

I did some research on this very subject recently; below is the information I found and posted in our roll call. Likely not the same dates as your trip, but should at least give you an idea of your options.

 

...I checked room rates, as well as cruise parking & shuttle information for most if not all the hotels in Galveston. My results are below, listed in order of guest satisfaction (based on travelers’ reviews on my favorite travel website). The room rates shown come from each hotel's website; they are the least expensive refundable rate for two adults checking in May 15 for one night; they do NOT include 15% tax.

We've stayed at both the Hotel Galvez and the Hilton, and both have parking during the cruise, and a shuttle each way. The Galvez charges $12 for the night you stay--and it's covered parking.

Maybe at the Galvez, they are like the IRS...ask ten different people the same question, get ten different answers! :eek:;)

Well, we haven't stayed there since November 2008, so maybe it has changed.

We stayed at the Hilton Resort last year, and will do so this September, also. And, they do have free parking and a shuttle. I think they share it with the Holiday Inn...I'm not sure.

I would note that the prices must be based on a specific date, as they seem high to me. I stayed at two of the listed hotels in the last 6 months and both were significantly cheaper than listed and have a booked for this Sept which is also a lot cheaper than listed.

 

So, use the price list as a guide ... but do call for prices for YOUR date which obviously varys ...but I did love the list ...good to see them all listed in one place.

Being from nearby I have stayed in many of the above listed hotels but the Treemont is definitely the closest to the terminal it is only a few blocks away. If they do not have cruise parking the lot for the terminal is 45 dollars for a 5 day if you book on line and it is guarded 24 hours a day. The Treemont is right off the Strand (the main shopping area) and has a old bird cage elevator hard wood floors, marble bathrooms and vaulted ceilings. Very Nice.

and they move cars from Treemont

to use Galvez parking garage during cruise period

Excellent hotel

 

Harbor House is about 1to2 blocks also and on same side of street as terminal. Parking may be on site or transferred also to Galvez also for all three owned by same
