2 hours in Belize

We will be in Belize next week on the Valor. We have a ship tour planned to River Wallace and Altun Ha. We are scheduled to return to the ship by 2:15 and our ship is scheduled to depart at 5. Any suggestions of what to do for an hour or two in Belize? Should we just return to the ship?

You may find that time squeezed if there are any traffic/transportation problems coming or going on your tour. Most cruisers just use the "extra" time to look in the shops and restaurants in the Tourist Village where the tenders dock. The last tender to ships is generally an hour before scheduled departure. So that further limits your time.

Have to agree with o/p, basically just spend time in shops/bar around the port area. We had 1 1/2 hrs to kill. Went to the Wet Lizard. Good perch to people-watch upstairs, nice breeze. Conch fritters were tasty, huge portion for appetizer. Hubby and I barely made a dent in the platter. Try it with their "cocktail sauce" too. Favorite item was the Belize Meat Pies. Wish we had gotten more of them instead. It's like 3 mini pot pies. They went quickly! Great with the Belikin Beer:cool:

 

PS an ex-pat relayed they had a very clean kitchen. wouldn't say the same about other food establishments.

The Wet Lizard gets my vote. Make sure to sign the wall. The best Tacos outside of Mexico.

If I'm not mistaken, Wet Lizard is owned/operated by an ex-pat from US. And extremely customer service oriented.
