gemini8870 Posted March 26, 2010 #1 Share Posted March 26, 2010 I will be leaving on a cruise beginning Sunday, March 28th. I looked at the 10 day forecast for the Eastern Caribbean and it says "scattered showers" on most of the days, although the percipitation is only a 30% chance most days (50% on one of the days). Please tell me it's not going to rain everyday!!!

jules815 Posted March 26, 2010 #3 Share Posted March 26, 2010 Don't pay any attention to that at all! It's common to have a rain shower in the afternoon while in the Caribbean. It might last a minute or two, and then the sun comes out. And that's only IF it happens.
robcool Posted March 26, 2010 #4 Share Posted March 26, 2010 One of the many things you can't control on vacation is the weather. Don't worry about it. Resolve that you are going to have a great time no matter what. If the weather cooperates, great. If not, you are STILL on vacation, and are STILL going to have a great time! Besides, as someone else said, showers in that part of the world tend to be short lived. Have a great cruise!
nobody000 Posted March 26, 2010 #5 Share Posted March 26, 2010 We had the best afternoon shower in St thomas one time...sun was still bright in the sky but the rain fell for about 15mins just enough to cool us off and we kept goin...never enough to slow you down with a lil rain.. plus lets face the weathermen are like Ms Cleo..paid to lie. ;):D:rolleyes::p
vacruisin Posted March 26, 2010 #6 Share Posted March 26, 2010 DW looked at the weather forecast in each port last year before our 5 day and there were predictions of rain on everyday. Well, on the entire cruise we got a little passing shower on a sea day and about 30 mins. of showers in Grand Cayman.
MileHiCrzr Posted March 26, 2010 #7 Share Posted March 26, 2010 Part of the reason I go to that part of the world is to get wet - makes no difference to me what direction the water comes from. Showers there are generally short lived and very refreshing. We spend two weeks a year in Nassau - usually rain is predicted everyday we are there. Never really has interfered with anything. Rare crewsweeper Posted March 26, 2010 #12 Share Posted March 26, 2010 Pack a lightweight travel raincoat/poncho that folds into a pouch, just in case. Packs easily in that day pack for your excursions. But if you're on deck and have been swimming in the pool, a little fresh water shower will just rinse the salt off. And remember that 30% chance of rain means that 70% of the time it doesn't rain under similar conditions. Better odds for sunshine than the ship casinos.:)
MargaritaPlease Posted March 26, 2010 #13 Share Posted March 26, 2010 What would worrying about it help? Instead a) realize there are showers many days in the Caribbean and that they frequently a short-lived and warm, b) prepare with an extra jacket or umbrella, and c) get your attitude adjusted so that you're just gonna go have a good time no matter what. Agreed that last one was way insane, havent had a 4hr white out in a while lol I no so so close and everytime this weather comes, it cant come quick enough.. And do bring a small poncho like stated...they take hardly any room and in port some days they are worth more than gold. ;):D:p

The only difference between the rainy season and the dry season is that it rains less most days during the dry season. The showers will come thru most days about 2:00 and be gone in minutes. Enjoy, don't sweat the small stuff and have a great cruise.
