Shuttle from port to town in Victoria

Recommended Posts

CVS Cruise Victoria operates a shuttle from the cruise terminal to just across the street from the Empress hotel...the cost is $7 rtn. There is also municipal transit plus it is an easy and safe 15 to 20 min walk into downtown. So there is no need to reserve. link

Our Princess cruise offers a pre-reserved shuttle from port to town and I'm wondering if I can I reserve the day we get to shore just in case someone decides they don't want to go ashore. I assume this doesn't get "sold out".

It's not far, about a mile, easily walkable (flat) if the weather is nice. Secondly, the city bus runs from just outside the cruise terminal to downtown for 1/2 the price of the cruise shuttle...

Great map, thanks. Is it possible to buy a BC Transit day pass from the bus driver, or ahead of time? We'd like to get to Butchart Gardens and figure the 30/75 route is the way to go.

Unfortunately, you cannot buy the day pass from the driver. The Day Pass is $7.75 per person, but it's actually cheaper to just pay the one way fare to get to Butcharts. The bus fare is $2.50 per person one way (exact change only), and that will take you all the way to Butchart Gardens.

All you need to do is get on the #30 bus outside the terminal area (stay on the same side of the street as the terminal to wait for the bus - don't cross the street). When you get on, ask the driver for a transfer. Get off the #30 at Douglas and Fort Streets (the driver can tell you when to get off) and wait there for the #75 bus. Just give your transfer to the #75 driver. Same thing coming back from Butchart's. So, it's only $5.00 per person round trip instead of $7.75 for the day pass.

If you need to change some US money for Canadian for the bus, there is a currency exchange at the pier.

Most of the time you need to transfer for the #75 at the Royal Oak Exchange, as about ½ the #75s don't come all the way into downtown. No fear, all the 30/31s go to Royal Oak..
