Bluewake Posted March 31, 2010 #1 Share Posted March 31, 2010 We will be on RCCL Freedom of Seas this summer and stopping at Grand Cayman. Having never been there before, we've been reading the boards and trying to get a sense of what it's like and how it might compare to other ports we've visited...especially in regard to shopping. It seems like there is a shopping area by where the tenders dock (is it kind of like the area near the Puerta Maya Pier in Cozumel?) But, is there also a significant "downtown" such as in Nassau or St. Thomas? Or is it much smaller - kind of like Tortola with just a few shops? Or maybe more "spread out" like Freeport on Grand Bahama Island? Just trying to get a feel for what to expect.

Rare TV Dad Posted May 16, 2010 #3 Share Posted May 16, 2010 We found the main port area much smaller and more expensive than most other ports we've visited. We were done shopping within an hour and suitting on a restaurant balcony sipping a cold one. Be prepared for sticker shock. The prices are generally much higher thanyou may be sued to.
