Jack I have a carry permit as well and I don’t know how you are traveling to the port ie road trip from someplace distant to Tampa hence the choice to arm yourself.

If this is really how you want to role I’d suggest that you contact the local PD as a previous poster suggested and see if they could store it for you. I personally would not feel comfortable leaving a weapon in a vehicle while on a cruise. They do make a number of very robust locking containers that can be permanently mounted in vehicles that would be a minimum requirement IMHO (gunvault etc).

I know in some states that have carry permits and have casino’s they have a place to check your weapon when you enter. I don’t think there is such a luxury at a cruise terminal.

Tampa isn’t like say Ft Lauderdale where there is a security checkpoint where you enter however there are police that provide security like all the others.

I am concerned whether there is a check point where they attempt to confiscate your defensive weapon when your enter the port. Your advice would be greatly appreciated. By the way, we are properly licensed.
