On a recent cruise to New England etc on the Grandeur I came across a ship from American Crusie Lines. Their ships are small (40-60 passengers)and sail the the East Coast as well as the Chesapeake etc.

I would appreciate your comments if you are familiar with them.

I get fliers from them all the time. They sail along the intercoastal waterways. The cheapest cabin on a week long cruise was $2500 the last time I looked.

If money were no object I think it would be fun, but $2500 will more than cover my 3 or 4 seven day cruises I take a year.

These ships docks in Baltimore occasionally. I was on one for a visit several years ago - lovely ships, mahogany state rooms, etc., but they are very expensive and small - no pools, no casinos - game room area for cards and board games - usually a much older crowd.

You can read more about them by clicking on 'Reviews' at the top right of CC's page (in the gold bar)... Go to the box titled 'Cruise Reviews' and click on 'Ship Reviews' or 'Cruise Line Reviews', and they are listed by name.

We saw one of their ships on a Canada/New England cruise. It was docked and we had the chance to really look it over.

Given its small, intimate size, it would provide a very different cruise experience from even our 55,000 ton Maasdam which we sail that itinerary.

What we pay for Suites on Maasdam for that very pricey cruise is just about the same money but that ship did not tempt us in any way.

That's a high per diem itinerary.

We have a small line out here on the West Coast as well. Today I received another brochure from them. One example, a BIG sale is going on. A 16 day cruise was originally $9,990. or something like that and the big sale took it down about $1,000.

I can do a FEW cruises for the cost of one of theirs; but that's why we have choices.;)
