Mazatlan Frank

Hi, I booked my excursion with Frank about 2 weeks ago for 07/01/10 and he only asked for me to pay $20 deposit thru paypal for an excursion to his city tour/deer island tour and told me that the rest I would need to pay it in cash once he picks me and my party up.

Was this a "per person" deposit, or just $20 for your family?

no, it was $20 in total for the 3 of us, which is not bad IMO, my tour is the city tour/deer island tour, it will includes lunch, and once I get to the island I can either kayak or go snorkling.

Has anyone recieved an answer from Mazatlan Frank recently? I have sent him two emails and have not received a reply. I know that sometimes he is busy, but I thought I would ask. Any info is appreciated.

I asked him for a reservation last week, but he answered back right away. Unfortunately the date we wanted wasn't available. Total bummer.

I sent him an email a couple weeks ago for our July cruise and responded right away. Luckily our date was one of the few open dates he had so I send my deposit and we are ready to go.

Thank you all! He responded. It seems that he was not home for a day and his emails backed up.

If he doesnt have the date available, go with one of his partners, they are great. We went with Ismael (smiley) in Mazatlan and Alfredo in PV and had an excellent time. I recommend them 100%

We spent the day with Frank last week and had a great time! Then when we went to PV, we went with his partner Alfredo's firm and had another great day. You really get to see all the highlights and get to know the city much better. We ate at Tony's in Mazatlan and then at El Nogalito in PV. Both places had incredible food and beautiful views. I highly recommend both Frank and Alfredo. I would certianly do it again just to see what I probably missed the first time round. I will post some videos and pictures a little later on.

Thanks for the positive review, Doug. We are going with Frank next week for the second time and have booked with his partner in PV for the next day, so I'm really glad you had a good time! Looking forward to lunch at Tony's again!! Did you get to have a shooter???

I just stumbled onto this thread...I was trying to look up Frank's info. I see this thread hasn't been active for several months, so maybe this will spark some more interest in Frank!!! Back in December of 2007 we cruised the Mexican Riviera (for the first time) over Christmas. My parents went along with us, my mom is a retired cruise specialist and she knew about Mazatlan Frank. We can't say enough good things about Frank! We took the city and beach tour...I have many of the same pictures from the ones posted great memories! We were a party of 6 and we had the van to ourselves, along with Frank's (at the time) 5-year-old son Fernando. Frank really went out of his way to show us his beloved Mazatlan! He speaks great English as he spent part of his childhood growing up in Canada. I see people were concerned about Frank not getting back to emails right away, I have to say that was true back in 2007 as well. He is sooo busy trying to give his clients a great experience, he is worth the wait so don't give up on him if he doesn't respond same day or even with in a couple of days. I think it might also be a cultural thing...most of us expect immediate service...I think life is a little bit slower in Mexico. We also booked a tour with his partner in Puerto Vallarta, Alfredo. Again we had the van to ourselves and again we had a great experience! :) Book with Frank and you won't be disappointed!!!

I believe this thread is pretty much dead because most cruise ships have opted to by-pass Maz due to the local situation till September at the earliest. I would guess it will be at least 9 months to a year before there is a return to Maz. If then.

Good call! We are just starting to look at Mexico for next spring. I've noticed cruises taking two days in Cabo vrs. Mazatlan. I hope all of Mexico can become a safe travel destination again. In the mean time if any one is looking for a great travel guide in PV then Alfredo is your guy! :)

Mazatlan Frank is now (temporarily) doing tours in Puerto Vallarta - got to pay the bills. Check out his website, you won’t be disappointed.:):):)

That is good to know. Frank is my all time favorite guide & I wish him well. I have used him twice now and consider him a friend - as I think all of us who have used him do.
