Price drop

I'm so glad for all of you who have received price drops . . . I still have not seen anything but you give me hope. Maybe I just book out too far to expect anything. I booked last March for our January 2011 cruise and recently a July 2011 cruise. When have you seen the majority of your price drops???? I'm still holding out hope as I have 9 months to go it just has not moved in a year so far.

I'm sure there must be a few people like me who find the prospect of checking for price drops, applying for credit and haggling with customer service to be too much effort for too little reward.

I did my research, made sure I knew all my Codes, check for the lowest price, picked the best combination of cabin location + price, then I called to book. I paid in full because I was happy with the price as is. No ES anxiety, no wondering if prices go up or down.

I called yesterday to switch my dining choice and just for grins and giggles I asked about price. Turns out that our cabin had dropped $20 each, but since I had paid in full I was not expecting anything.

I asked if I got shipboard credit and was told no (expected) - but they did offer me an upgraded cabin, so I took it. A nice unexpected win!

I understand families and budget conscious travellers who booked very early and might see $100+ drops, but I'd rather wait until a month or two in advance of the cruise date and just get it over with in one call.

You kinda berate others for checking ..but you sure didnt turn down the upgrade?? Iv gotten 3 upgrades when prices went down. I just got my first price drop for Sept, Ill take it. Good thing it happened because my PVP said my stockholder's credit dissapeared, not showing, so I have to resend that.

Doesnt hurt to check your booking more than once.

Leaving on the Legend May 9 and my TA got us upgraded from 8C to 8E and got $140 onboard credit. This was Friday and confirmation from her today. I wondered if the prices went down more, but can't get the site to give me any exact rates any more. Should I bother calling Carnival or just be happy where we are at?
