Occy Posted April 10, 2010 #1 Share Posted April 10, 2010 I have one particular sheath dress (lined) that I always seem to have a problem with regarding static. It actually crackles when I even put it on. Besides having to take Static Guard with me, is there any other tricks I can try to eliminate this problem ?? Thx. for your help. iheartbda Posted April 10, 2010 #2 Share Posted April 10, 2010 Is the dress washable? If it is, do not dry it completely in the dryer and dry synthetic and cotton fabrics seperately. Static is caused by a buildup of electrons. Try going over it with a wire hanger which is supposed to pick up all those loose electrons.
Anita Latte Posted April 10, 2010 #3 Share Posted April 10, 2010 Rub it down with a dryer sheet. Pack dryer sheets with you when you travel.

iheartbda Posted April 11, 2010 #6 Share Posted April 11, 2010 Great advice regarding the dryer sheet ..... now why didn't I think of that ?? Many thx. all. Just be careful with the dryer sheet since they can leave marks on some fabrics.
Cozzette2 Posted April 11, 2010 #7 Share Posted April 11, 2010 I have used hairspray in an emergency instead of static guard.
ailuro Posted April 11, 2010 #8 Share Posted April 11, 2010 Rub it against something that's earthed, and be careful which shoes you wear, if the soles are too thick you won't discharge your own static so will end up clingy again. ETA probably should have said grounded aswell as earthed.
