Taxis and car seats in ports?

Just read the post below. Similiar questions, except about the caribbean.

 

We will be porting in SXM, St Thomas and Nassau, bahamas.

 

What do you guys do about taxis?

 

I really dont want to have to bring a car seat, but want LO to be safe.

I just do excursions that don't require a taxi. We often just walk around and then go back to the ship to enjoy the uncrowded pools and slides.

 

This was our plan as well, to avoid having to fuss with a car seat. I know most ports at a minimum usually have a small area/shopping village/etc. that is within walking distance from the ship. Some places do not though; I don't recall anything within walking distance in Belize, for example.
