jackman68 Posted April 14, 2010 #1 Share Posted April 14, 2010 We are booked on the Miracle to the Bahamas on Sept 4th. We have been hearing from some sources that this July, the laws will change that will require that all people will require a passport on this cruise. We sailed last year to Canada and used our new enhanced licenses as proof Can anyone help us with this?
Prphan2 Posted April 14, 2010 #2 Share Posted April 14, 2010 For us, getting our passports 3 years ago just made sense. If for some reason, you aren't able to make it on the ship before it leaves the port, travel will be so much easier. Plus, a passport is the ultimate form of identification. :)

As long as you don't miss the ship or have to fly home because of an emergency you'll be fine with certified birth certificate and govt issued photo id. MOMOFTHREE68 Posted April 14, 2010 #4 Share Posted April 14, 2010 Another vote for getting your passport. If anything were to happen and you had to fly home from a port, it could get complicated. We got them for our cruise last November, even thought they weren't NEEDED. My TA highly recommended them.
lillian marie Posted April 14, 2010 #5 Share Posted April 14, 2010 I'd get a passport for your personal safety. If you miss the boat in a foreign port, get arrested or injured you really would need one. My 3 yr. old has a passport. It's just worth the cost to get one. paper1122 Posted April 14, 2010 #6 Share Posted April 14, 2010 I would suggest getting it before our socialist dictator takes away our ability to travel as we please..... (This is my attempt at humor, please don't start a war over this) Seriously though, why not get it? It really gives you a lot of Freedom in the event something comes up. You do need more than a enchanced license (whats that??), sorry I never heard of a enchanced license. You can use either your birth certificate with your license or a passport. You can use either your birth certificate with your license or a passport. The enhanced drivers license is available in some states. It can be used instead of a passport for land travel to Canada and Mexico as well as the Caribbean. To get one, you would have to have proven your identity rather than just simply filling out a form for a drivers license. They aren't good for air travel, and not all states have them.
