UK O2 and Orange, does it work on Independence?

I know that RCI have "Cellular at sea" and that it can be expensive. I'm just wondering if any UK cruisers have used O2 or Orange mobiles on Independence of the seas? I tried on Voyager last year but I didn't seem to get a signal. I've checked the "cellular at sea" website but it didn't seem very clear to me.

 

I'm hoping to phone my mum on my birthday - we'll be at sea that day :)

We used 3 network and 02 in the indy last year. They both worked but it was very expensive as I recall, texting is a cheaper option.

You need to check with your service provider that you have roaming activated. Don't forget that you may be charged for receiving incoming calls; check that out too when you call them.

They work on roaming, so you have to have roaming enabled.

We gave O2 a ring before we went on the Indy in Nov to check on charges etc. I think it was about £3.80 a minute and any free minutes you get in your package don't count. However, a text was charged at the rate of 4 normal texts and if you have free texts in your package they do count, so I had 250 'free' texts available. Call your service provider to check exactly what you get with your package.
