Tampa Airport/Bush Gardens Hotel

We are flying into Tampa on Friday and want to go to BG on Sat. Cruise departs Sunday. Dont think it is necessary to be close to the ship b4, only to leave downtown to go to BG, so the price downtown hotels are out. Does anybody know a "nice" resort like hotel near Airport or Bush Gardens that they would recommend? We can then cab it or shuttle to the port on day of departure. Thanks;)

We booked a room for two nights at Hyatt Place Busch Gardens for a little over $50 a night ( through PriceLine) for our stay post cruise. We'll have to take a cab from the port to the hotel and then the hotel to the airport.

FYI, if you buy your BG tickets online they're good for 2 days at the single day price ( $65 iirc) they also have an all you can eat / drink ticket you can get online for $29 a person. I did both.

Just had a look at Mapquest. It's roughly 16 miles from TPA to BG. It's been a while since I've taken a cab that far but I would guess $40 - $50?

Is there a cheaper way to get back and forth?

Hi Boatingmom, Try the Holiday Inn & Suites Busch Gardens, they are located next to the park and have packages that include park tickets and shuttle service from the airport. I think they have a shuttle to the curise port but not 100% sure if it is free. Very clean, nice business center and hot breakfast, fitness center, free HS internet and kids eat free at the Couryard Cafe'. (the hotel's restaurant) They have a tropical pool bar too, which is nice to grab a frozen drink after a long day in the park. IMHO this is where I would stay. Be careful though, some hotels in this area are a little leary. Do your research.

The hotel is located at 11310 N.30th St, Tampa,FL their ph is

(813) 971-7690.

Have a nice time at Busch Gardens and a great cruise as well. Cari :)

Thanks for the info. Love to save a dollar. We'll have to look into the Holiday Inn Bush Gardens. Breakfast and Shuttle is a deal in my book. I stayed in the Holiday Inn Express in Hernando/Inverness Fla a few months ago and loved the breakfast;)
